How you liking that tig? Been thinking about picking up a vulcan 215 welder.

The Vulcan welders are pretty solid. I've had the omnipro 220 for almost 3 years and haven't had any issues. It's scratch start tig and dc only though. Really sucks they couldn't spend a little more to easily incorporate AC and high frequency start into it rather than making you buy a separate 1k machine. I run mostly mig and have about 40 pounds of wire through it so far. I only buy anything from HF on sale, got the Omnipro when it first came out for 800. For an extra 200 or so I'd get the 220 with the screen and the extra features. If I was to get a dedicated tig it would be a tough decision between the AHP that OCD got and the Vulcan pro tig. Having to pay 50-100 every time I need some aluminum done it would pay for the machine before long.

The 215 is not a tig machine. Not ac anyway. Only the ProTig 205 Vulcan welder can do AC. It’s got a $-100 coupon right now. I like it! Came from zero training just read the manual and watched hours of how-to videos. And practice. I even did some stick with it. I like that it has options that my Hobart mig could never think of doing. Get it

Way too many dials for a pair of nubes to figure out in a single afternoon but we made a solid effort.

Put your post-flow at 5seconds. Keeps the tungsten from getting contaminated. You'll need that at least at 5 seconds for anything non-aluminum also.
Also wondering about your AC Balance. Is that positive or negative balance? Usually need to run about 60~80 negative balance for aluminum. Its hard to tell on that dial maybe in the manual?

Delayed in shipping do to civil demonstrations, crazy to actually purchase a life vest that IS coast guard approved. After putting it on I remembered why I don’t like them. BUT old guy doesn’t bounce or swim like he used too.
