Unless they are working for free which I highly doubt , there is a price.

"They" is themselves. Like I said family owned and OPERATED. (same principle as Tom21) I don't think they are working for free, there is a profit margin in every BOB hull, but I believe is not as high as other manufacturers. Their business, with the addition of BOB, makes it a one stop Jet ski shop now. So while you are getting a BOB, you might want to have your engine overhauled or something else done to your ski. If laying up hulls is all they did, I am pretty sure it will not be priced as it is now either.....you got to pay the rent

Peace!

Even though your whole argument is both illogical and irrational I am not going to continue it, you seem to have it all figured out.

Please continue because I cannot figure you out....
You said (assume/theorize) they pay their workers closer to $10 and hour and you have not even set foot in their shop....or have you?

1) I see hulls not droping in price. engines and parts are not going to drop. Not saying you can't find that deals at times they are still out there but not as often.
2) Making parts and selling them is not a easy business as other posts seem to read.
3) This sport is not going to take off anytime soon tho i wish it would. Once the economy gets better thing will seem to move forward again once people start making and spending money
4) The key is to be ready when things start to pick up be in the front of the rat race with a plan. I do see companys that are hanging in there. These are the ones you want to be part of as they grow so will $$$
5) Ride some good surf/ flat and enjoy your life...
6) just my 2 cents...
7) Tom21 what's you got going there (fx done?? )

No actually what I said is that the amount they made was closer to $10.00 an hour than it was to $80.00 an hour. $20.00,$30.00 and $40.00 are closer to $10.00 than they are $80.00 last time I checked. I love it when people just read the parts they want to read, makes for interesting discussions don't you think? Somehow I doubt I will be making the trek clear across the country to check out their shop.

The ski clinic rocks, Rickter rocks, And 10 dolla n hour employees can be the most reliable people on your team at times. Another thread that went nowhere. I work for myself and another employee would free up some time for me but the liability is what keeps me from bringing on extra labor, and I just do not want to spend the time training.

The problem is there are way more people that like to point out why something can't be done than there are people who will take the time to actually figure out how to do something

I have noticed the x being slow
and parts and skis getting cheaper
must be the economy, when it rebounds
so will the luxury sports like ours

I see a completely different option than aftermarket hulls for the future of our sport. I am not bashing aftermarket hulls, they are the way to go for the elite few who can afford them. However economics plays such a big part in any sport, the majority of the riders (majority market share) flat out cannot afford an aftermarket hull. IMO the smart route would be for some hull builders to put out a Super Jet “Hybrid hull” where the builder takes a stock SJ and alters it to an already proven design. For example consider a surf specific hull. A potential buyer could purchase a hull that’s already been reinforced, has a flipped up nose mod and has the Tubbie style sponsons already attached, footholds, etc. The buyer would pay for the new Hull and would be required to give his old hull to the builder as a core so the builder can convert it for the next customer. This could drastically reduce the price of a hull for the average rider and still be profitable for a builder

Don't know how affordable that would really be. The major cost in an aftermarket hull isn't the material, it's the labor.
I guess it depends on how much this pro charges for his/her work.

The Good Old Days
Just make China splash a Superjet and pop out hulls on a mass scale.
Ship them over as planters or garden decoration and sell them at walmart.
So they won't last long and the paint will peel instantly, at $99.95 or 2 for $150 who gives a toot.

or not.
