Kawasaki is out after next year, Yamaha will be soon to follow I'm sure.

Just today a comment was posted:
Damn, is it even worth it for a newcomer to join this sport... I wanted a superjet anyways, but whos to say yamahas not gonna back out or they're going to knock off all 2 strokes? BALLS!
I used to be one of those guys who said I'd ride until I couldn't stand up anymore, but my thinking has changed in the past year or so. (Part of that is where I live, which is a choice I made.)

Traffic on the X is way down this year, which is a small indicator since the percentage of riders that are here and posting is very low.

Where will we be in 2, 5, 10 years? I know a lot of surf riders want it this way so their areas don't get crowded and I understand that.

With the OEM's fading away, it'll be only older and older used skis and aftermarket stuff. Hardcore riders will be around for a long time. I considered getting out earlier this year, but after some long hard thinking discovered that it's the one thing I truly love doing.
I have good riding buddies that have grown to be my friends.
I'll be in it for as long as I can.

Creative RE Purchasing
Economy probably has a lot to do with the loss of riders and visits and postings here on the X.

But for the surf riding, I can't speak for everybody, but I'm all for new guys that want to surf ride as long as they know what they are getting into and as long as themselves and their skis are prepared for the surf. There is nothing worse than a broken down ski in the surf.

I just got into the sport 2 years ago and havent looked back since. I have a new born son , so hopefully I can get him addictied to the sport like myself. When he gets older of course! I know I'm in it for the long haul.

I started riding in 1991 and bought my first ski Jan 2, 1992. I've gone from 440>550>750>SJ>conversion ski and unfortunately think it's my last. The riding scene is just dead here, I have to travel 2.5 hours+ to ride with more than 2-3 standup riders.

In my 2 years, I started with 650 sq, to a 701 sq. Then 2 701 sqs. And now 1 bad azz sq and building a jetmaniac/blue rn this winter!!! I know in my area, Ive opened some eyes to stand ups.

We can basically ride almost year round in South Louisiana.

In my locale, the number of standup riders had increased quite a bit since I started riding 7 years ago.

On our beach we have up to 20 standups on a good day during the summer. Jett sounds like you need to move closer to the water, get some new friends, or give it up. You are welcome on the west side. Be possitive, you are in control of your destiny grasshopper.

2 things I don't plan on stopping are drinkin good beer and ridein skis. Bean ridein about a year. Learned flatwater rolls really quick due to a really cool local riders.went from goin 90* not knowin what I was doin to 3/4 in just like 3 rides with these guys. Sacked up and threw my first surf rolls a month or 2 ago and now yamahas got me by the balls. Even just surf ridein is one of the funnest things I've ever done. Now I might even be movin closer to rideable surf

I started riding in 1990 with an X-2, Then 550, 550sx, 96 SJ, 2000 Transplant hull......... 2004 SXR (Racing).

SXR is gone. Retired from Racing.
Retired from Freestyle
Barely Ride now.

Honestly, I could sell my SJ and not really miss it considering the past 2 years I barely rode any during the summer. I have ridden more times in the past month than I did all summer. And that is only 3 times!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The last time was honestly the most fun I have had in about 4 years!!!!!!!!!!!

Things change.

Stanton kudos to you for being one of the guys on the scene helping to keep the dream alive.........................Guys that go big make other guy want to go big.
