Big Kahuna sweet bike BTW, Titus is the way to go in my books!! (XC anyway)

I have a 08 Titus RacerX Carbon myself, XTR everything, Fox front and rear etc... weighed it on the scale I just bought it was right around 23lb. I try to ride a couple times a week, its the best workout you can do.

I realized during the weekdays I dont get nearly enough activity in. I have a few KILLER trails near my house, so I figured a MTN bike would be a fun way to get some exercise in. Been looking for a while and finally scored a killer deal on a 09 left over Gary Fisher X-Caliber 29er today. Having only ridden cheap crap bikes in the past, it blew my mind at how fun a good bike can be. Just pushing it out of the store you can "feel" that is so much smoother then junky walmart crap. Did a 5mi loop just to test it out, so smooth, fast, and light!

Not my picture but same exact bike.

Sweeeet bike. If those are Bontanger cranks, ditch them ASAP. I betcha that'll be the first thing to fail. Nice bike though!

Yep, that's pretty decent. I have a Shimano Deore XT and love it. The Bontragers are awful- mine snapped with only about 20 miles on it. Shimano and TruVativ make some good, strong cranks for basic singletrack riding.

A stealth dirtbike you could ride ANYWHERE would be awesome.

There are elec motors that haul ass, but batteries dont last that long.

One of the main reasons I bought the mtn bike is to scout out trails to ride my CRF230 on.

Why? I ran Bontrager cranks from 2002 until 3 months ago when I crashed hard and twisted them.

Nothing wrong with them.

Everyone I know has ran them (including myself) and they have failed one way or another. Mine snapped completely at the splined shaft and destroyed my bottom bracket in the process. I have wrecked with my Shimanos and rode at Moab/Sedona with them on some crazy trails, and haven't had one issue. The guys at the Trek store also called Bontrager cranks "cheap" and that their construction isn't as good as other cranks in the same price ranges.
I like all the other Bontrager parts and never had any issues with them (well, not entirely true- except their saddles, I had the rails on one bend and the saddle folded- I use WTB's now). I'm a bigger guy, 195-200 on a good day, so I tend to brutalize parts more than the lighter fellas.
I love their wheels and bars/stems. Nice and strong.

New bike did amazing on some tough singletrack (bike did better the me). When I got home I rode it into the backyard and the front x.9 derailer stopped shifting right. Just makes a bunch of noise and stays in the middle gear. Not sure what the hell happened, but its new so its going back to the store I bought it... for them to fix/adjust it.

I am not a lightweight either 200lbs. Guess the cranks I had that were 9 years old were better than some of the newer stuff then.

The wheels that I had (Bontrager) were bulletproof.

For a starter bike, you can't beat the 4300. I have one and still use it on the lighter trails and the street. Fun and bulletproof. She'll love it.

Yep. She rode her first time on the dirt Sat. I kept it short only about 2miles. After that we did 15miles on pavement, and the 4300 performed flawlessly.
