Who's SJ hits the hardest.

What ever you are looking for motor wise, give paul at Jr. Magoos a call and he will get you sorted out! The hardest hitting boat I have ever ridden was Pauls boat in Daytona...that thing was silly...way too much power for me to deal with (about 190 hp). But the 760 that Paul built for Yamaslut, I was in love with that the first time I rode it. Predictible, great power delivery, made the ski feel weightless!

Does that thing run pump or race gas to get 190hp? (although who would really care when you have that much HP, FEED IT.)

so what does it take to break the 100hp mark.....i am guessing that a piped and ported 701 still would not break past that point would it?
And on that line, how much hp will a Lamey PV motor typically make.

How many of those 190 horsepower lamey cylinder superjets are showing up at Lanier ? It would be nice to see them in action. I think a lot of people would like to compare them to the normal 135 to 160 horsepower superjets that most other shops build.

Which shops build "Normal" Superjets that have 135 to 160HP??? And what engines do they run?

I meant normal as in quoted horsepower claims. 135 horsepower superstock and 160 horsepower stroker motors is what most engine builders claim with moderate engine life. Im sure a few more ponies can be made with less engine life.

For some reason, I find numbers past 135HP highly suspect with stock cylinders, even on a stroker crank.

One thing you have to remember is the power loss transmitted to the water. 70% of the power gets lost in trying to move something through the water. So, a comparison of a 135HP jetski to a 180HP ski is actually like comparing a 40HP dirtbike to a 54HP bike.

What I should do is start a thread for recomended mods to reach a certain power level and how much money it takes to get there. Obviously it might not break the bank to get to 100hp, but at certain power levels you have to do so much more to keep it all together and reliable. It becomes a balance between $$$$$ and cost effective upgrades. Im sure we would all like to own the build off boat, but not too many of us can justify spending that much on a toy.
I would like to see that thread ! Ithink it would be followed by a lot of people !

I have seen 62 mph 701 cc superstock superjets. I feel you need something around 135 horsepower to do that. I remember when Dan Lamey was selling his R&D cylinder he was quoting 135 horsepower and that was with a stroker of 6 mm. and a cast aluminum Riva red pipe. That pipe made the most power at that time. We now have better pipes. like type 9 and R&D dry race pipe. I think Nicolas Rius has one of the most tweaked and peaked super jets around, and its running an OEM cylinder and a stock stroke.
I think this thread started as who's boat hits the hardest .After Lanier there should be a list of them. I was just wondering how many of those were running 190 horsepower.

I don't know if this is true or not, but an engine builder told me the Rius engine dynos at 140hp, it runs on race gas of course and it doesn't last very long because of the high RPM's it turns.

Does anyone know if Paul dynoed the build off boat, or was the 190 hp from a computer estimate. I'm just curious how they came up with the number.
