Super Jet why a rn handlepole on a sn?

probably a dumb question. but, i'm new to all this and i just bought a 90's sj hull and trying to build. I've noticed alot of people have a round pole on their square. is that just ecause it's a newer more advanced pole? :firedevil:

The square pole is weak and a pain to shorten.
RN pole is much stronger, easy to shorten and much cheaper than an aftermarket pole. On top of that they look a ton better.

I am in the process of this - be aware there is more to it than buying a pole.
You CAN grind the SN bracket, but it isn't a cake walk, and if you are on a budget be aware:

Used RN pole = $100 - $125
RN Chinpad = hard to find used for less than $50, new >$100
Hazzard Conversion Bracket (If you decide not to grind) = $150
Limiting rope setup $35 (needed even with conversion bracket)
RN pole spring $25-$45

I'm not done yet, so I may be missing something. Just hope it's all worth the time and $$!

thanks. i'm not that bad off with cash (right now). maybe i should be investing my time into something else besides a pole though. since it's a completly stripped hull. just thought maybe this is a good place to start.

bought it with footholds and turfed. when I bought it there were a few things like intake grate, bilge pump (no switch), battery cables, tubing, ocean ride plate (not going to be on ocean but i "heard" it is easyer to learn on). maybe I should have posted this on the build thread ha..

The money spent on a hazard conversion braket will save you a ton of hassle and it will allow you to utilize a spring, I would strongly suggest to go that way...

I got a really good price on a complete square pole, bracket, bars, pole bolt, and cables together through a budy i met of here. i geuss i'm going to rid with that for a little while. but, thanks everyone for bein so helpful. feel like a jackass for not takeing any advise really ha.. I'll probably get a rd pole later on though... how hard is it to reinforce the square pole?

how big of a deal is the new spring when doing rn coneversion pole on a square? I got a blowsion sn spring on mine that'll work with the round noe pole right? or is the pole gonna just stay saluted the whole time?

sounds like you have plenty of time, keep an eye out for an AC racing aluminum handlepole. I've seen a 750sx AC pole go for $90 on this site or pwc2today.

I have had a AC aluminum pole on my SN for over 10 years. It maybe just be easier and cheaper to find a used A/M pole if you keep your eyes open. In the mean time keep running that stocker and spend your $$$ on other stuff. A good short quicksteer kit might be a great place to start. A good prop, B pipe, are also big improvements.
