Freestyle Why do freestylers.....

20k 30k is nothing to spend, look at sledding in the mountains, guys spend like 15k for a new stock sled. Then you need the truck and trailer to haul 6 plus hours to the mountains. Everytime I ride in the mountains I see 30k 40k spent on sleds with turbos and am tracks, suspensions, ect. 10 to 40k on trailers, and god only knows what people spend on the truck .Just to highmark higher and faster then their buddies. If you love it and it puts smile on your face, its only money.

There are many other sports that cost FAR more for a competitive setup no doubt, and to some degree many sports/hobbies do it for the love of the sport for at least awhile to get to the professional level of it. The biggest diff though is when you get to that level in almost all of them, their is real money to be made. Freestyle is a hobby as far as money will ever be concerned.

Recently these days with the big motors that finally came to be...It is fun to watch in person for a short period of time. unfortunately ski tech and skill development based on that tech is too far behind the curve of every other extreme sport out, where they have been doing this kinda stuff for 10 plus years. Most the public is spent on it by now. there is far more money and excitement to be made in freestyle shows,at other water events that draw a larger crowd already.with more than one rider out there at a time, with some manufactured level of danger or anticipation of purpose in choreographed routines. Competitions are too long and drug out for the general public to appreciate it in jetski anything.....

To be frank world finals live feed was kind of a bust. I watched it just because I really like jet skis. But the average joe doesn't give a f***.

Stand ups are popular as hell right now and I know a lot of people who just go out freeriding. Many of them are older people who just like to cruise. Their should be different classes of freestyle at WF.

The big boy trampoline boat class

AM hull with modded stock cylinder

OEM hull with big motor

OEM limited class.

-----

For racing:

I frankly dont care about couch racing but I guess some do so have it.

OEM balls out motor class.

AM hull races!

OEM stock classes.

For flatwater make the bouy courses tight as hell. I feel surf races are the best because ability to read waves dictates who wins.

This is just what i want to see as a jet ski enthusiast.

Keep in mind I'm coming from the ideal of bringing jet ski popularity up to the general public. The guy who has a stock superjet or sxr or maybe an old 550 that rides on the weekend.

You need announcers who know whats happening and the runs need to be super short 1-2 minutes tops in rapid fire. There should be a big boat doing circles too.

AM hull races would be worth watching for sure! haha! I'm guessing you meant backflip hulls and such? Because I'm sure there were plenty of carbon fiber sxrs there.

We went down to WF, and I would have loved to see different styles of freestyle, different classes. Old school, new school....whatever, variety. Seems the racing took up most of the day, every day. Half and half would have been nice, and I know there is not enough time in a day. I think Jace said in the first post, there should be different classes, that would be awesome. Maybe that's what Alberat guy was reffering to also. IJSBA give us Variety, please. There, now you can call me Jackass, Troll or keyboard jockey. :spank:

half and half...hmmm id of preferred to see more of it,one thing is for sure, watching racing was like watching paint dry, that never dried,it just went on forever and ever.no one seemed to care other than the racers involved, 99% of the products being sold/demo were freestyle related. market definitely going in that direction... once freestyle started the stands were packed solid. Tend to think if they did the same for freestyle and kept it all competition and less exhibition, people would get bored of it as well.

Not sure what you were expecting, puppies playing?
The live feed from ANY sport/event is going to be terrible. A single fixed camera, unedited footage, questionable commentating, with no video production at all.

"Back in the day" when they televised the races it would be 1/3 freestyle, 1/3 racing then whatever was left was slalom and "other" stuff, like rider bios etc.

....sure dude. Puppies playing. :hitwithrock:

That was just my opinion of what I'd like to see as a spectator and jet ski rider. Sorry if that's too...cute for you?:dunno:

slalom is sweet... btw.
