haha, ill tell you one thing i do care about... strawberry milk!! and of course, anything that has a negative effect on my family/friends.

imo, popularity has a negative affect on many things. once popular all kinds of people (tools, douche bags, people with too much money) will want a stand up. next thing you know, the laws get worse, more lakes start banning them, beaches get crammed...

i like our sport right where its at. anyone else agree?

most people cant ride a stand up anyway. or its too hard for these lazy fat American's these days............ don't think it would have a negative affect at all.. mark44 i would be bored watching you in the xgames also. but watching ross, pierre, tc, pancaker, barton, serlin, yea that would be very boring lemme tell ya

i think it would be exciting. sure most wouldnt appreciate a huge slash on a 10 foot face like we would. but look at how many people watch surfing. you could say to the average person watching someone do a bunch of turns on a wave would be boring but look at how popular that is! i also think coverage like that would make alot of guys step their game up too instead of waiting for the perfect wave. but i do like the small tight knit community. its cool how close some of us are with people that live hundreds of miles away all because of this "sport"

Tzane put it right...................We have a great community of riders, builders, and pros making this sport what it is. X games are great if you are 15 and like sitting around. Most of the riders would rather ride than watch. CATCH 22.......................................................

I can tell you when we ride at pismo there's people that stop and watch, does anyone stop and watch the surfers or the quads? No. I've talked to many photographers and film makers and they all say freeride jetski is the most exciting thing they have ever shot.
If it was more known it would have a chance, 98% of people don't even know you can ride them anywhere other than a lake!

it's not in the x-games because pastrana can't do it. And if pastrana can't compete he won't let it be in the x-games. :p

I disagree with a lot of people on this. I'm for there being more popularity in the sport. It could spark more progress and if more people ride, and lakes see the money they could be making on it, then they would have a harder time justifying the bann. The world we live in is profit based, and most people/companies will do whatever it takes to make a buck. No one wants to be poor.

My best guess for the reason its not in the X-Games is ratings. They've probably looked at it and came to the conclusion that the viewer numbers and sponsorship dollars probably wouldn't be there when compared to Motocross or Freestyle Street Donkey Punching.

I'd love to see it (surf freestyle that is) on the X Games so that the top riders could enjoy the sponsorships and benefits (financial) that would allow them to push the limits further. Right now, I'm stuck watching these guys on YouTube filmed by a cheap single camera. I'd love to watch them from multiple broadcast cameras in slow mo and such.

I have yet to here a single motocross rider complain that X-Games coverage is destroying the sport. (Maybe they are and I don't know it, so if this is the case...).

It seems to me that the competition, interest and money brought to sports like BMX, skateboarding, freestyle motocross, etc via the x-Games has shredded the envelope of "what is possible" in their respective sports. Before the X-Games, how many freestyle motocross guys could afford those foam pit/crane setups?

Ross, if you read this, could you comment on if you think making six figures doing this sport and an almost unlimited boat budget would make a difference in your skill level and innovations?

Oh the irony of that post on this particular day.
