They could have it at Long Beach in LA or Pacific Beach in California... It would be HUGE!!! A little advertising in the area and it would be insane. Throw a live band or DJ and some bleachers on the beach and it would GO OFF as an insane event.

No need for a stupid Wave pool when you could have ten times the Motosurf action in the ocean.

I think MOTOSURF, if done like the competition at Surf Slam would become a VERY popular event for X Games. (More popular than most of them!) Surfing events are huge...why can't a motosurf event be ran the same way???

I wonder if the SoCal OSide crew could get some demo's going at Surf competitions in between heats???? This could be the way the Motosurf guys get their big break?? TyphoonTommy has done flatwater demos in front of 100's of thousands of people.... I think this is what needs to happen out west in the actual ocean at ocean events. (even if it's a sand volleyball tourney)

I think we're on the right track here. There's no reason the even has to occur within the x-games arena. It can be at an off site location and televised with the x-games. Treat it like the world finals at havasu, correlate the time around x-games, perhaps get an outside sponsor like "monster energy" did with world finals and you've got an event. I'm sure the O-side crew would be involved as it's only a couple hour drive or less for most of them.

x2 to Korn

What happens when there is no surf????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Bk we are talking about the west coast.....................Korn you are right I have lived in PB a few times very close to the Crystal pier. It is a beach break that can be fun sometimes....An Evan better location would be tourmaline about a mile north of the pier. Tourmaline is a well known longboard spot that has about four differant breaks from outside slow reef break to an inside fast dumping section. I spent a couple of days in la jolla last week and surfed tourmaline both days. We have sooo many great breaks here it would be a trajedy not to show the world and get some guys going big out there.

See posts 45 and 46 RIGHT ABOVE YOURS. :lmao:

You know how they have big surf comps?

Matt we can always count on your possitive input..............

It could be planned the way they are doing some of the big wave contests. We can spot a swell two weeks in advance and make it happen.

With the amount of riders and support on the X alone we could put together something pretty insane. I dont think we should worry about the X games..................................MAYBE THE X GAMES SHOULD BE WORRIED ABOUT US......................KORN if you are down lets make it happen. We could talk about this for another 10 years or make it happen right ??? Mexico....???

Easier said then done. As enlightening and inspiring as everyones posts are, it won't happen. Some of the guys in the group have been trying to do the things many of you have mentioned for years. A few things that come into play, legalities, safety, sponsors, control, miscommunication etc.

Last year I spoke with the Director of the US Open (surfing) in Huntington Beach. I had been talking to him for over 4 months about how to incorporate the oside crew into the event. Though I had his full support, the board slammed their foot down and said, "No f-ing way."

I understand everyones frustration. Everyone here puts a lot of time and money and should be able to show it off a bit. The guys in my group are the best riders in the world. They aren't good, they are the very best and they all have to experience the same things as all of you do. They do not receive any special treatment. Even then, they still can't put on a demo at a local event. But thats okay, because freeride is a new sport and it just shot off.

I am discouraged by everyones remarks when they say, "jet skiing is dying." Guess what? Its not. It just started. Racing had its glory days and now they are working hard to get where they were before. Will they ever reach that mark? I don't know. Will freeride ascend into the best years ever? :):):):) yeah it is. If any of you have noticed, OEM is getting out of the sport. And new companies are coming in, and offer way better stuff IMO. I think Ross made a post earlier, about how Yamaha hasn't done anything since '96, and yet Blowsion, Cold-Fusion, X-Scream, Wamiltons and everyone else are constantly producing new products for us. The superjet hasn't changed much any for 15 years. And yet, because of freestyle and freeriding BOOMING, there are probably more then 20 hulls designed in the last 3 or so years. Don't know what you guys think, but when you look at our sport in black and white, the sport is sky rocketing and the time to be in it, is now. Everyone riding right now make up the foundation of the sport and are building a platform for years to come.

I'm going riding...That is, if anyone actually PICKS UP THEIR PHONES!!! TEXTERS!!!!
