Ross Champion is in the market for a day job. I have had an amazing time the last 4 years traveling the world and competing on my water scooter. And for sure there is lots more riding to come. But as of now, I am done competing. I think that means I'm unemployed?

Garretonufer said it, cause pastrana isn't doing it. He tried and sucked at it but he still owns at everything else. But Hey I'd watch it if it was on the X, and I know my family and friends would and hell with the way we all ride we could make some serious competition.

haha, ill tell you one thing i do care about... strawberry milk!! and of course, anything that has a negative effect on my family/friends.

imo, popularity has a negative affect on many things. once popular all kinds of people (tools, douche bags, people with too much money) will want a stand up. next thing you know, the laws get worse, more lakes start banning them, beaches get crammed...

i like our sport right where its at. anyone else agree?

I am with you (glad not to be the only black sheep)
I think if someone wants it bad enough, they will find us, build it and join us....
The door is wide open....

I can tell you when we ride at pismo there's people that stop and watch, does anyone stop and watch the surfers or the quads? No. I've talked to many photographers and film makers and they all say freeride jetski is the most exciting thing they have ever shot.
If it was more known it would have a chance, 98% of people don't even know you can ride them anywhere other than a lake!

At one point there was a group of about 10 women watching you at Pismo last Saturday. (for real)

Simple, hard to get 20000 people in a small venue and charge them 20 bucks a pop to watch up close and personal. (Do the Math)

I think that having a wave pool and doing a freeride comp and best trick at x-games would work and bring a whole new light to the sport. A big key would be making if efficient in that fast pace x-games schedule and very spectacular and memorable. It wouldn't be that far fetched and if the right people got excited I'm sure one day it will happen. I don't think it would impact out sport negatively at all. I as am up and coming rider would love to see our sport grow so people my age have opportunites to push the sport and could get a grasp on things financially with some talent, people skills and balls. I just think it is too bad that some of the most talented, legendary rider of our time can't make it doing what they love to do, where with the popularity of moto-x Travis Pastrana has made millions. You might be able to rape this sport for what its worth and get by for a while, but we don't have the industry for 20 pro riders to make a living and support families from jetskiing. Surfers make more money than a pro jetskier. Golf.... I mean damn there are some lame sports out there that some people make some serious bucks off of. I hope to be along for the ride if jetskiing goes more mainstream. Im sure the AM companies wouldn't mind fresh meat that would be drawn up when every 14 YO in the US see's Pierre doin a double backy on TV.

I met Pastrana in Poland during red bull finals. He admired guys on jet skis and said its not easy (I tend to agree) :)

I also agree with the idea that this sport needs promotion - most of "joe's" don't even know what a stand up ski is. I think it would be a great idea to start introducing skis to Xgames and such. Those who love water and motors will love skis!!

Does this mean my Ross Champion autographed hat has gone up or down in value?

People are drawn to things they don't understand and most folks don't even know our boats exist. All the peeps on lakes around here will often watch and take pics of us and all we really do is nose stabs!! Then they try to ride one of our boats and are like wtf how do yall ride those so good LOL
