I get the best results (for the money) on Crysis with XP service pack 2 and 2 Nvidia cards.

Vista with direct X 10 has slight visual benefits but not worth it to me as a builder.

Thankfully MS is still selling Xp.

If and when they quit i may leave them altogether but for now Linux does not work for me because of all my other apps plus it is not at all necessary because XP tweaked with 3GB of mem and a 1GB vid card is excellent!!!!

We still run windows 2000 pro on all our puters,
never crashes ,
runs all our high end Cad/cam software,
networks easy,
why change ???

Not to mention a small enough usage base that no-one writes viruses targeting win2k. I'd still be on it if MS would support it.

BTW I have a copy of Vista Premium for sale if anyone wants one. Only been used once! I put it on my home comp to get up to speed for when we needed it at work. Took it back off 2 weeks later. We are never going to vista. Just gonna have to wait till windows 7 or whatever they're calling it next.

Vistas latest craphole stinking bug I am seeing everywhere.

Windows Media player 11 randomly skips MP3's during the last 20 seconds of any song.

And it shipped like this so that means even full factory restores don't resolve the issue and no one has a fix that I am seeing. Disgusting.

What is this 1989 and I am driving over railroad tracks with my fresh new friggin pioneer in dash CD player all over again?

What a joke.

My fix is to install a hack media player classic I use that plays everything. But still most people have no clue nor should they have to.

I would really like to see the OEMs collectively class action sue MS on behalf of their customers over this blatantly bloated and poorly designed OS which has been forced to be sold by the big guys.

In my world it is one bug after another.

Looks like MS is going to abandon Vista like they did Millenium, they're pushing forward on Windows 7.

I just heard it is ready for dload tomorrow. Is that the beta I wonder?

Demon your video card is either Nvidia or Ati I assume so they will have a driver for that.

And Vista will load some driver to get you up and running I'm sure.

Yea so the beta comes out tomorrow I guess but I have already read in forums that it is still a pig. You could have registered with them and become a pre beta tester I guess and stuff has already leaked out in some forums.

I will miss the days of a nice mainstream OS that ran on 128MB of memory and absolutely screams with 3GB's.

Downloading the Windows7 beta now. It will quit working in August.

I'm getting 1.1-1.2Mb/sec and it's a 2.44Gb .iso

Expecting something else?

What platform was crazy climber?

Platform? Arcade? It was out back around 81 or so probably, 2 joysticks, one for each hand, that was it. You had to get a rhythm going to move quickly without falling, plus think ahead. Great game.

They actually did release the game on a few systems but none of them had the controls look or feel for the original arcade version. There is an arcade here on the boardwalk that has all 80's retro games and they used to have that one but not anymore. I was soooo bummed when they got rid of it.

It'll use the system date to determine when to stop working.

We're going to try putting it on a very old system at work and see what happens.

I was not happy with microsoft's DL manager. Did not interface with firefox well at all (no surprise).

Yea definitely had to use IE and let in install a active X app.

I don't know man.....I am heading more and more toward Linux but as long as XP is still working I can't see any reason in the world to jump ship.ch

FYI: if you sign up for newegg auto notify they will email you when they release another small batch. Read the first review.
