650/X-2 winter x2 build

Hey Dave! Your build looks awesome! Wish we would have put that last layer of glass over it last night. Can't wait to get it out on the water!
Make sure you keep getting new pictures up here. I'm off thurs. and Fri. Hit me up if you want to hang out.

I have made alot of progress over the last month. I made some connections with a local body shop that let me work on my ski there and use all of his tools and stuff like that! Any ways I am out of my cold shop/storage unit and in a very nice professional shop.

First thing I did was cut a ton of material off of it. I have reinforced just about ever spot on and did carbon fiber on the inside of the ski. I still have some ends of the carbon fiber to clean up but It looks great will reinforce great. I believe the x2 is about 3 weeks out from primer and paint. My next step is to fill a few very minor spots that got too low while sanding about all of the material off. After that I am going to do a glaze over it and do the final ruff sanding on it, then it will be gettin primered!

I had a few questions. First what kind of primer have you guys been doing? Has any one used a epoxy primer on there ski? is it worth the extra $?

Here are the pictures... sorry it is not pretty yet ! It will be pretty once the first coat of primer goes on it. But it feels strait and perfect though! Its work down to 80 grit as of right now. Also The shop had some extra epoxy primer laying around so I sprayed the foot trays as much as I could with what they had left in the gun. that is why the foot trays are in primer all ready.

Under the the back part of the lip on the hood I am doing a induction system where It is basicaly a L shape going into the hull. I have it all planned out it just needs to be done. That will be one of my projects before I put it into primer.

yeah I can do that. I might go qork on it this morning. I dont have any of it in yet but I will start on it. It needs to get done soon so I can get ready to primer that area.

Make sure to sand the heck outta that hull with higher grits, I learned the hard way...started with 80, went to 220 then 400 but I missed a few little scratches left from the 80 here and there, couldnt really tell until I really looked hard (in the light at diff angles...and my paint is black which shows everything haha) but maybe im just a perfectionist when it comes to my stuff...anyhow just a little fyi for ya! Looks good tho!

when I do my glaze over the whole ski it will fill all of the tiny pin holes and scratches from the 40 grit but I think tomorrow I am going to try and guide coat the whole thing then sand it all off with 80 to make sure all areas are perfectly level and then I will finish glazing it, then sand all of the glaze off then PRIME IT! (thanks for the tip though I apperecate it) It is getting very close!, By the way, once it is in primer would anyone suggest to but it all together minus extrior stuff then paint it or would any one suggest, prime it paint it, then piece it all together. I am just worried I will scratch something when I drop the motor in it.

So I just got all of my air induction done yesterday. Next I will fill thw rest of the hood with 2 part foam once I figure out where the fp will be under the hood.

Damn I would love to be going out tomorrow! I just got it in primer today, I got to do some sanding still! I think monday I will put it in its last coat of primer and hopefully in paint in 10 days. Then hopefully over my spring break which is not next week but the week after I can get the motor in it and and start buttoning things up for the most part. MY goal is to have it done by April 20th. If your in or around loveland sometime you should come stop by and give me a hand, see what you think of it in person so far!

How did your ski turn out, you should post some picture. Did you ever get to do the nitrous?
