I thought it was super impressive that some guys could do there tricks both directions (like 360"s and such ) one right after another (off idle) consecutively ! upping the degree of difficulty X10 in my book .there variations were great this year ,underflips, scarecrows, spiny flippy things up the A:)(;SS. kazu was on fire in my opinion his one minute routine rocked ,but then so did almost everyone ! I truly think things are being pushed far beyond three tricks .but also not trying to argue just making an observation for conversations sake that progression is there.
,just things are at a level where its only being dolled out in very small increments...

In my opinion, if linking tricks together is easy then they all would do it. Being able to land perfect that many times in a row and have that much stamina is impressive to me.

I saw 3 tricks in in the top 5 PROS this year (and obviously some variations of each)...

1. Backflip
2. Helicopter
3. Barrel roll

...wait a sec I saw one flair; thank you Jeremy Parr

that brings my total to....4 tricks; scored by a "trick counter," how many times can you repeat 1 of these 3 tricks before your 2 mins. are up. Even the harder variations seemed to mean nothing, only TOTAL # of tricks WINS.

I'm losing interest...

Add in some sprung monkeys and 50/50's and let the bodies FLY...but seriously, let's see what kind of a routine they come up with! :)

I agree totally. I think Lee was robbed. He was the only guy who brought true innovation to the comp. Come on, 3 consecutive scarecrows...the dude is only holding on to the ski with one foot, lands it, and sets up to do it immediately again twice over. It was big for any other rider to pull that trick once. His superflip was mint - and the only one. In my humble opinion one super flip trumps 24 flips. I can do 10 in a row, but you wouldn't catch me going for one superflip yet. A little advice for any future competitors. Learn how to throw 357 backflips and 243 helicopters into a run and you to can be a star lol. Sorry rant over

Lots of good ideas in this post by riders trying to keep it fresh. As an outsider (spectator) looking in I enjoyed all of it. Great showmanship. Incredible talent. Excellent variety. Nice interview with the inventor of the jetski. Great evolution of that machine that has taken place. Perfect entertainment and no nutt busters though a few came close to some serious personal damage. Great to see those who missed a completion just get up and keep performing. And their incredible stamina to keep taking the those meteoric impacts with the water and keep on going.
If I were doing video I would love capturing the repetitions of tough tricks. Watching them on the live feed made me scream at the screen and marvel at the direction that the power and skills have gone. For example Lee Stone was absolutely incredible. As were Jace and so many others....I did not get to see the whole show and hope to see what I missed soon.

I prefer stills photography at the moment so my thing would be focussing on amplitude and polished style of individual stunts. I cannot keep up with too many stunts in a row. The camera buffer fills up and I am left with a dead shutter. My passion is to capture the trick at the pinnacle and also frame by frames of a given trick in the highest resolution. Scarecrows are a beautiful thing as are the Madonna flips and helicopters and.... BTW I hope to see a complete list one day with a brief explanation of each to help this enthusiast spectator know what each trick is called. Not so necessary to enjoy the performance but nice to he able to converse intelligently after the show. AND was the lighting ever nice on that show... no ugly shadows that I could see. Nice placement of the stands for viewing and capturing.

If you are interested in one spectator’s viewpoint PLEASE keep the variety. I hear those who are saying it is very costly so perhaps there needs to be more division of the expensive machine contests from the less expensive to keep things on a more even keel and let everyone who loves the sport perform. Seriously I loved the fusion of (wo)man and machine on everything I saw. Would have loved to be there and try to capture some of that talent. It was a complete thrill to attempt to capture some of Chris Anyzeski’s many skills at Angola - Kudos to Team Xtreme for giving us that show.

IN closing Don’t shoot me I am only the camera player... and besides isn’t that my job? Showing you the particulars once the contests are done and the stands are taken down and everyone has gone home...
And now I will do just that and go home. :Banane19:But only after I say thanks again for an incredible show brought to me in the comfort of my home.

Too funny... I was also going to say you have to be careful when raising the bar.... it is like buying a present for your significant other. If you buy the ultimate birthday (etc.) present this year good luck next year....WOW! I just looked at a couple of your videos. Insane. Nicely done. Will have to look later when I have more time. VERY NICE! Thanks.

I understand it takes a lot of practice and talent and money to do those routines. however I would still rather watch someone like Stoyer out there throwing in some old school tricks. IMO

They should give more points for old school tricks on the little hulls. If you can do hood tricks on a DVX, Revolver, etc. that would be impressive. I say it should be a 25/75, old school/new school.

I would like to see more variation in direction of tricks, most didn't even turn to the right more or less roll or flair to the right.
I think their should be qualifying for both amateur and pro as well, anybody who has previously podiumed in amateur, goes to pro. Anybody who is clearly riding at pro level in Am qualifying, gets bumped to pro, anybody who is caught sandbagging in Am and killing it in comp, gets docked points or tossed.

It's not a AM class anymore, it's just a 900cc class.
The right way to do it is to win the AM title before you go pro in my opinion
