douglee, there is way more to this than was even in the published lawsuit, stuff that was inadmissable, etc etc. The named defendants were cleared, BUT ONLY AFTER SPENDING TONS OF PERSONAL MONEY to do that.

How would you like it if someone sued you and had no grounds to it, but you still had to travel back/forth several hours, several times, pay for lawyers, all just to say you were ok?

Oh, and this is a couple of years after he was in a somewhat similar lawsuit against ADA Racing.

There is even way more than that to this, the guy is a joke. Yes, he can build a fast GPR, but that's about it, and that top speed is not much faster than people do on a regular basis, it's just that his *might be official*.

Ok, we'll leave it at that. I guess I don't know everything. Just giving the guy props on the speed record.

I have heard that Tim Judge Built Eminio Iantosca a Fire Breater 15F that is going a tad bit faster............... Funny, the old speed record was 55mph before the Outback Steakhouse/Riva built GPR (That Tim Built) broke it...... that was what, 4 years ago...... People had 65mph race boats for years before that........... just nobody was trying to get into a book............

Congrats, want a cookie.................

Well from what you guys say Kerry seems just like GP from sea-poo.net but all that BS aside this is an impressive feet and hats off to him... And no it's hasn't been done before as some of you might say, cause if it was it'd be a record already. p.s. from what I've read other places this isn't even his best speed, it just happens to be they knew alot of fast skis would be at this event so they did the proper steps to get it in the books. For this one all they needed was witnesses, camera, forms, radar, etc.

I spend time on some other boards where they a few hang out (not Kerry) and they're into just like any of you, just its speed for them compard to lightness/low end grunt to us. I'm sure many of you wouldn't be hating if was cars, boats, etc.... so why hate because it's a couch?

The Good thing is it takes alot of $ and work to get a ski to do this so every other moron can't do this same thing, THANK GOD. I'm afraid already of the newbie retards with a RXP doing 67mph....

They have, but how would you like to layout $20,000 defending yourself, and not have the right to countersue until after it's over, like 4 years later, and take the chance on not getting it back?

You are missing the point, prior to the Outback/Riva GPR "setting" a record 4 years ago, the previous record was like 55mph, which STOCK skis like the Ultra/GPR/XPL were doing. Nobody actually bothered to "set a record". Kerry just likes the notoriety and will jump through the hoops to get it.

Island Racing comes to mind when I think of fast skis.

Well for that I really can't comment cause I don't know about, nor do I care either... but you can't hate somebody, Kerry or Riva, for pursuing it because nobody else has.

Kerry did it for biz? so what.... The shops we deal with walk the same line, just opinions on how to get the biz differ.

Carl is kick-ass and if I was ever to have a GPR he'd be getting my biz. shiat, I remember everyone on Riva hating on him at one point because he was getting speeds others were paying much $ on with Riva bolt-ons by only "massaging" the pump & handling aspects.

IMO this is the same as the Lee Stone shiat... don't hate, congratulate! :woot:

you should ask RIVA how much money it cost to have that record put into the books. not all people have such an ego that they'll put an insane amount of money to have their name printed in a book for bragging rights. the RIVA record was broken a long time ago.

Yeah, I know Riva paid good money for it and said that. But there are more reasons behind the scenes as to why, which I'm unsure of... It doesn't take that much to get into the books and that has been addressed on other sites and even this thread. There are many normal 'joes' that get in for stupid crap, you really think they spent good money for this????

do me a favor........... check the guiness book of world records for longest endo on a streetbike.................... and i guarantee there are guy damn near doubling it on a regular basis............ my point is the same as some others have said....... just cuz its in a book doesnt mean a whole lot more than the bragging right that your name is in a book

It prob. cost riva more becuase they made an event out of it, Lots of camera men, various people filming it. I could spend 10,000 dollars to get my self into the record books as well. Shoot I am sure everyone on this board could spend 10,000 if they had it to get into the record books, But the thing is, YOU DON"T HAVE TO................ They just chose to.

it has to be in a controlled enviornment, with guiness people involved or some ********......... there are alot of stipulations u have to follow it really isnt as simple as some are making it sound.......... does it have to cost 10 grand... no but if your marketing the hell out of the attempt the it can cost that and alot more. Alot of people do alot of things everyday that they either dont realize are world record type stuff or just dont care......... some people just have to be known as number one by a bunch of people who dont have a clue.......... how do they do that........... they get their name printed in a book of people who are the best at being documented at what they think they are the best at......... to be honest I never really got it........ if im gonna be considered the best at something i want to be considered the best by my peers....... not by the morons who got drunk at an over 40 christmas party and read it on their freakin trivial pursuit card
