I just left the cables disconnected, I believe on 750s the overheat sensor is normally open and the circuit closes when it overheats. On sxrs I believe you use a jumper because it advances your timing 6 degrees right awayI just read back thru all that was already posted. When you disconnected the heat sensor, did you just disconnect it or did you replace it with a jumper? Not 100% sure on the older kawi's but my 06 SXR needed a jumper to replace the under hood sensor. Simply removing it opens the circuit and effectively triggers the limp mode. There was also 2 sensors on the SXR, one in the pipe and another in the engine bay right above the ebox.
P.S. Limp mode holds the rpm at 4000.
