Other WTF is with the arrogance of builders and manufacturers of products for our sport

Its worthless without callouts and pics.

I agree. I have a lot to do with classic small fords, which is a similar small market. Personally, I give the company / person a chance to explain, otherwise I post about it on a forum, explaining what I ordered and why I wasn't happy (and i also make sure I post my positive experiences, because good vendors dererve more buisiness). I read similar reviews before making a purchace.

I think too many people are reluctant to post negative feedback for someone (and name them). As long as you are honest and tell the story how it hapened then you are helping the consumer (and in a round about way helping the vendor to realise their ssues). If I sold poop I would expect to be named and shamed.

Sure it is hard to make every part fit every combination, and when this happens (because I have random parts fitted) I accept it. but when I get a part that is just plain poop...

The entry cost is not that bad it is the modifications cost that adds up. Once you start doing modifications to any thing it gets expensive. Even radio controlled cars and planes can get very expensive IF you want to be competitive. In the Harley market I don't see anywhere the complaining about the prices. I think it is the type of people the sport attracts. The average household income is very different between the two groups.

Same people (personality type), different age demographic.

ok, I'll reiterate: what I meant to say was, the entry cost of having a ski set up to be worth using, etc....

Thread revival: Perfect example....

This is EXACTLY what this thread was referring to. I am building a ski for a friend (he ordered all the parts, i'm doing the labor). When I went to install the new blow(me)sion bilge bracket and dual rule 500 gph pumps, I realized that the pump baskets rivet down to the bracket. Blowsion even supplies a nice little baggie of rivets to use.

Well, one would think "okay sweet just rivet 'em down and install"

I went to put the first rivet through the bracket, and noticed that the provided rivets are too fat (OD) to fit through either the bracket holes and/or the pump basket holes. So... I had to either wait till the next day to go PAY for the appropriate rivets or drill the holes out. I drilled out the holes... but SERIOUSLY WTF? How hard is it to put together a "kit" that doesn't require F'ING MODIFICATION!!!!!

That is exactly the problem in a couple of ways: one is that it should work right out of the box, ESPECIALLY in this example of very common parts matching. But then the other side of the problem is that they'll never improve if they don't feel the consequences, which in this case would have been a return and refund or replacement that worked.

What you did was what we all do: modify the part to make it work, after all: who has the time to wait to send it back and get a replacement? But that also just perpetuates the problem.

When I hear Blowsion, all I can think of is UPS.. When I hear UPS, all I can think of is brokerage fee...

Off topic, but the dig on Blowsion reminded me of it. Someone tell them to offer a USPS option to Canada.
