Other WTF is wrong with nebraska

Go on vacation, have a good time and don't do anything stupid (draw attention to yourself).

Not the "right" way to do it, but an option.

nebarska is now requiring any boat/pwc operator born after 1985 to take their stupid boating safety course which is a 6 HOUR LONG CLASS THAT MUST BE DONE IN A CLASSROOM! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!? Why would I make the 4 hour trip there just to spend half of my weekend in their stupid class?!? Anyone under 28 is now assumed to be unfit to operate a water vessel according to those back country hicks. Am I the only one that thinks this is absulutely rediculous?

I always wondered why these laws are retroactive for people already in their 20s. Obiously because they can. Texas did the same thing with hunting. In Nebraska, a six hour class takes up half of the boating season.

I think its a good idea and ive had to do a pwc course and a seperate boating safety couse in connecticut and a snowmobile course to ride in vermont. Im actually real suprised that I now live in california and they dont make this mandatory with all the other :):):):)ty laws here.

And its not about the state making money its about the safety of yourself and all other riders. The state probably not making any money to train the people after hiring instructors and books and all that.

no... the boating season is 6 days long... north dakota it's 4 days.... idk how these guys in canada do it...

haha just realized i've posted on here like 5 times and still haven't voiced my opinion.... i think it's stupid and smart at the same time... smart because a lot of people are not knowledgeable with boating laws, but there are still car accidents... it should be regulated on a national level, but that won't ever happen... it should be allowed online.. yea, those are a joke, but if you plan to go see family for 3 days on a lake in Nebraska that kills the occasion...

my only question if your boat is registered in a different state, what state law do they go by? car license plates for instance, wyoming only requires 1 but south dakota requires both front and rear, if you're from wy and drive to sd you're legal as they go by the laws of the state the vehicle is registered... just a thought... i never looked into it as i have no intent on going to ne to ride..

In Alabama it gives the marine police a reason to pull you over-to check your license! (and your cooler). The lakes have been sooo much safer since all the license, cough cough ,cooler checks!!! I for one am dam glad it happened and yes, I had to go through the crap myself. Drunk boaters had taken over the waters and made them very un
safe for those of us that were trying to have sober fun. Don't get me wrong, ain't a dam thing wrong with a cold beer on a hot day at the lake, but there are limits to everything!

I have a lake house in Michigan and got my boaters license when I was 12. Being 19 now I'm glad I went though the class. It made me a more responsible person on the water. I wish everyone would take it so people knew the laws. I see so many dumbasses on the water it disgusts me. Just take it. It's not that big of a deal.

A visitor to the state has to take a boater safety class in order to operate on the state's lakes for a short period of time? That some BS right there.

It's not a big deal to do those tests. In Washington State, you can just keep a separate browser window with the handbook open.

actually most of the online tests are getting "interactive" so every so often they make you click on something so you have to pay attention.. apparently they thought people were cheatin their way through... who'da thunk it...

Online tests are a joke. They are worthless.

I'm not too keen on regulation but admittedly I agree. I haven't even been riding that long but areas congested with couches are very dangerous and I've almost been run over a few times. 50+ mph toys with no learning curve with young inexperienced operators trying to impress the chickadee on the back. They just dart all over the lake without looking.

Older riders arent much better at being aware of their surroundings. People are accustomed to having a lane to drive in. A converging course on a lake is always seen as the other guys fault. Boat operation should be taken seriously but by more education instead of enforcement. It is much more profitable to make a law and turn the gestapo loose to write as many $300+ tickets as they can. I saw a local game warden run 30mph through a swimming area full of people just to write a no wake ticket.

Im generally not for ANY new license , fees , or regulations , but I would welcome this in the state of Ga. People get a boat or PWC and drive it like their in a Walmart parking lot.
