I for one, am 19 years old and my good friend is the same age. We just started riding this year, and are riding with the Oside crew and we are always online reading threads. I have learned a lot! I would never have met Ross or Jake, matt, john, eddie or anyone else if this site didn't exist. I realize that the majority of the guys here are in their late 20's-40's. And I keep hearing how the sport is dying...I think it has slowed down (but what would I know) but as far as I am concerned...it will never die. I put my 12 year old little brother on my FX1 last week, he got up first try and made 4 complete turns, hes a prodigy...this sport will never die and I am doing everything i can to read and gather information so I can be the guy in 10 years giving information to guys like me....Thanks everyone for all the help! i promise to return the favor!

my apologies for adding and joining the sport guys.....
this site was the site that inspired me to get a stand up an start riding in the first place... It provided me with info to help make it easer to ride an not swallow the entire gulf or entire ocean and make it a big desert an we all have to get quads an dirt bikes to ride =p kinda funny how he would slam this place like that. maybe a Indian. silly cowboys an Indians never getting along

Good for you bro! Don't worry, the sport is TAKING off!!! There are more and more stand up guys.

Are new ski sales down? Yes. (Stupid $10,000 couches the size of boats)
Are racer numbers down? Yes.

but...There are more and more freerides every year...and they get bigger and bigger!!! Just look at the number of people that are on this site! I remember when we were stoked to get 20 stand up guys together from the ENTIRE Eastern USA! I'll bet there were 300 skis (standups, x2s and blasters) at Daytona last year!

Yeah, it's pretty funny. Just 3 years ago I bled green and was a KAWI only guy. Now I have nearly 15k tied up in a SUper Jet and my wife is on a limited Super jet as well. Kinda funny how the X and it's members have 'evolved' a bunch of us!!!

There has been alot of drama on here, but I blame that on a group of people with alot of passion and passion is what it takes to grow our sport.
So, with that said, if it takes a little drama along the way to grow our sport, then let there be drama. LOL

I am typing this with one person in mind that has gone major NEG towards the sport this year and YOU know who you ARE. YOU have spent alot of years in the sport and YOU have had alot of passion in the the past for the sport, so YOU of all people should agree!!!

Moral of the story is-ignore the drama and soak up the rest.

When I first got on this site I didn't know what a foothold was,although I have been involved in standups since 1986,the whole standup scene had pretty much died here.I found what people were doing to their boats here very interesting ,I have learned a lot and made quiet a few friends along the way.I got to go to three freerides so far and they just keep getting better and better every time.I have seen the sport grow tremendously in my area and some of that is because of this site,thanks guys and keep up the good work.
