:banghead: Here's my problem, The ski will start and rev to about mid throttle, Anything over that it bogs bad. On the water it starts fine, It even hits the powerband Until about half throttle then it bogs. I tryed riding around with the hood turning in and out the high speed screw, With little luck
:banghead:
Now that I am back from Daytona and at my shop, I decided to take the carb apart and check it out.The carb is clean, But I am not sure that the jetting is correct and I know the pop off is to low (about 12psi:frown: )
Here is the current jetting on my X-2(44sbn) 100L, 125H, 2.3 N&S, with the silver spring. I will admit I don't Know alot about tuning Jetski carb's so these numbers may be way off.
Now here's the ski, 89' 650 X-2 Mod's are: 44sbn, Westcoast intake manifold, Ocean Pro head (190psi)(BR8es), Coffmans manifold and pipe, Westcoast water Box.
AnyBody have any thought's on my problem or what I should be running @ or around? Thank you for your help:hail:

Hey he started it:poke: Now back on topic does anybody have any usefull Information about my problem:rolleyes:

at 12 psi popoff, your probably flooding the engine when the n&s opens too early.

i 'think' wifeys x2 is at 115L 120H and about 28ish lbs psi popoff.

which flame arrestor is on your carb?

check those wires for arcing in the dark and see if it runs okay on fresh water after being thoroughly rinsed.

Thanks charlie, Will check for spark arc when I get carb back together and running, Sounds like I may be a little lean on the low jet and a little fat on the high jet.You think the pop-off was probably my main cause? That would explain the flooding symptoms I descibed. The flame arrester is a stock superjet.

might want to check plug wires, they may send enough current to get started, but when you put a full load it may start breaking down........... does it feel like it is choked back?

It starts,Idles fine. It even hits the pipe about 1/4 throttle all the way to 1/2 or 3/4 throttle , then it starts to low bog/studder. So I should probably get my pop-off to around 25 psi and keep the same jets?:arms: Thank you guys:arms:

do you have a stock choke on it or a primer? either way, this may help, while running the motor in the water, when it starts bogging, either pump the primer or pull the choke slowly. if nothing changes, chances are its not so much a carb issue. or start by trimming back your plug wires and changing to new plugs, then try it.. when you pull the plug boots off, look at the end of the plug wire, see if you can pull out a couple of strands with needle nose pliers (easily) if so the wire is broken inside. hope this helps some.
btw, i spoke to you on the beach yesterday, i took a pic of your ski and said it was sick! good luck......

I heard your ski running at Daytona and sure sure sounds electrical to me not fuel. It was cutting in and out with no load. Do some resistance checks on that stator

you may want to check your fly wheel key. i have seen them shear and put the timing off. that will make you ski idle but wont rev.

if it will crank and rev fine at low rpm's then it not your popoff......... check your plug wires. Chick can help you with this........
when the stands are breaking, it will make you think it is a fuel issue........It is not.......

harrison, did you hear about what happened to tom's (superramjet's) ski ?

not 'funny' that it happened to him, but funny in an ironic way.

yeah, Chick told me last night.......... said Tom took it in stride....... I hate that I was not there, I met Tom 2 years ago at the Galveston Ride, he is a stand up guy............

I agree that is is probably electrical in nature.

Start with the plus wires. If that isn'[t it, check the stator.

My friend's 650 SX did the same exact thing when his stator was toast. If you had a full battery it would run fine. But once you hit the gas more then idle it would die. I had to ride it all the way back home once with it barely idling... that sucked!

In the motor I ran last year (mostly stock) I had 120 pilot and a 150 main with a 2.0n&s and it ran well. This motor came out of a running ski, So I thought maybe it would do the same for me(Wrong), Well the jetting in this carb is 100L and 125H with a 2.3N&S:dunno: So I ran the larger jets and tryed it. It seemed to run better but still had the problem.
:banghead: Screw it I just pulled the motor ,pressure checked the cases and it held 10 psi for 15 min., I opened the electrical box (prev. owner thought to seal it with 5200:rolleyes: and it still had some water in it.
I have decided to go through every thing now, I will let you know the out come:ugh2:
