good point with surfing, but at least SURFERS wanted surfing in the X games, But yes, great fact that they did have surfing, forgot about that, i agree, free riders go HUGE...
Maybe have BOTH... Very different worlds...

Well, once again , point and case...
If WE can't even want it, or believe it in, NO ONE else ever will...

I'm not entirely sure what the appeal is to have it on X-Games. Brief exposure and short-lived attention?
Because it wouldn't be a permanent spot.
I'm fine with this being a low-key hobby that doesn't get a lot of attention.
Attention brings regulation, fines, and eventual bans.

Like wydopen has said many times. Most of what we enjoy to do is actually illegal most places. More exposure=less places to ride IMO

yea theres only about 20million of those guys...lol

Seriously, you're telling me 1 out of every 15 people in the US surfs? That includes kids, elderly, etc. Maybe 20 million have touched a surfboard in their life.

Heck, I lived in Hawaii for a few years and wouldn't even say 1 out of every 15 on Oahu 'surfed', maybe they tried it once though.

Flat water may be boring to us hard core jet skiers who see it all the time but think of the core audience of people who probably didn't even know they made anything after the 550. Seeing backflips and barrel roles would be pretty cool. It probably would get boring after 1 season but that would push the riders to be more innovative. I think some exposure would be good for the sport so people know what I'm talking about when I say I ride stand ups

Two words Sal ... Masekela ... "oh my god another huge backflip!" Lol.

The summer x is almost boring to watch. It's all just 'jam' sessions of street skaters missing tricks. I'd rather just watch a redbull commercial.

I wish I had the means to build/have a spot with wake rail park like obstacles for flatwater skis. I would like to try something like that and see if anything is A is doable and B doesn't look retarded.

Until then I'll keep fist pumping. We be flipping!

Agreed. Where I ride, I've heard of people getting tickets for just doing hood tricks and how that was "dangerous". We are viewed as the skate boarders of the water world.

Good point. Back in my surfing days the last thing we wanted was exposure to the sport. More exposure meant more people getting into the sport, which ultimately meant less waves for those of us already out there.

Exposure comes with the good and the bad.....

But if there was ever a realistic change to get said exposure it would need to be done in a wavepool enviroment. Just too many variables with surf and it's not condusive for spectating.

you do realize thousands of people come to watch live surf contests?? not that i think that many people would want to come to watch jetskiiers idle around in circles and kick their feet into the footholds, over and over and over...
