Hey guys,
I installed x-metal trim (the stainless ring) on my ski with a brand new cable and under power I cannot pull the trim the instant you hit the throttle you can not hold it. Cable is straight no bends. Is there a reason it cannot be pulled?

Are you pulling the trim before hitting the throttle ? If not your doing it wrong (" that's what she said" ).
lol yes even when letting off the throttle and pulling the trim but once i hit it again theres no holding it. Don't tell me thrust trim is the only way to go

Take the spring off too...? Let off throttle, grab trim and hold, grab throttle again. What steering nozzle do you have? The longer (uncut Protec "style") was considerably harder for me to pull until I cut it down.

Raider nozzle. We tested the Thrust and x-metal by putting a little bit of weight on them both and the thrust is like butter but the xmetal becomes impossible.

Need to flip that steering connector to top side of the nozzle arm, rather than the bottom, this way the pivot will be at the same point as the bolt that the nozzle pivots on, although I don't think thats your issue.

It is strange that it becomes that difficult, I ran one for a few years with good results, speedy has one too and has a good motor making good power without any issue. when I had mine, once you grab it, and hit the gas, it held at the lever without an issue. Trying to pull it while under power is another story...

Agree with zimmy on both accounts. Steering on the bottom of the nozzle arm, and extended on top of that, is one of my biggest pet peeves!
I cant help it the pump sticks out so far and the cable already started to bend from being on top, I will change and see if there is a difference.

Most people usually do that to clear the water fittings on the pump. Can't see where your fitting is. To get an ideal setup, might have to grind a little on that boss to get some better clearance...

Without better pics it's hard to see if it's a assembly problem.
I don't have a problem holding my Xmetal trim and I'm pretty sure my ski makes some good power
That's what im trying to get at if pros use this setup with big engines then something must be wrong on my side. Ill upload pics later today when i get home
