I still have some work to do on that front hinge arrangement,I can either I leave it like that and cut the hood seal at both sides of it or try mounting it below and extending it out some, not sure which way thats going just yet ,I will know more when I have a hood to play with.

I think you are on track by extending it and lowering it, but you will need to have a curved hinge bracket.
Looking good.

How bad do you need a hood? I have one I chopped the liner out of. It still has the place for the hinge to bolt up to. It isn't perfect because I f'd it up in a spot or two but it would be perfect for what you are trying to do. I kept it to make a mold off of it but my fiberglass mold making skills are not present at the moment... You can have it if you pay the shipping down to Bama Land.

I may take you up on that, the local salvage yard ,which I gave a perfectly good X2 hull with hood to now wants $50.00 for a hood ,very nice of them to sell me my hood back for such a low price ,don't you think? If you can beat that I will take it and tell them to get fawked! Slap some cardboard around it and send it,I will paypal the shipping to you.

I looked at the front hinge arrangement again today and reversed it back to its stock location,I can't get it to open far enough to suit my tastes even after drilling new mounting holes. So I started looking at other options, it appears I can just cut out a small section of the sealing lip out of the hood and just go around the front bracket-hood hinge,if my measurements are correct there is exactly enough room to do this.

The front bracket will have to be reworked quite a bit,John had them made very beefy so here is plenty of material to work with there.I also have to redo that pin arrangement that has to go it takes up too much room and I need as little clearance as possible on the sides of that bracket to keep the water out. This also solves another problem as the MSD plate mounts to a plate below the stock hood hinge ,now it can remain there without making a new plate.I will post some pics of the reworked bracket when I am done with it.

PM me your address and I will get it boxed up and sent out the first of the week. There is some threads on PWC I think were I took some pics of it once. It has a few flaws but you will be able to make it work perfectly for your plug/mold. It won't take much to fix it.

I saw your post on PWCT but as with most of the old threads on PWCT the pics have vanished. It matters not.

Here is a pic of the modified rear brackets,I still have to bend up the curved top pieces that attach it to the hull, they will attach right at the lip area, that should be one of the strongest parts of the hull when completed,my friend who tig welds this stuff up is going to be getting another visit soon.I also modded up a bilge bracket from an XPL,its bolted to the left side of the bearing housing which is the right side in the picture, no more gluing down bilge pumps for me,I am done wit it.

I had some free time today so I gauge blocked the pieces, ground them down to the line I scribed with the gauge block and routed out for the hull seal lip,the routing was a bitch because I had to freehand it,it turned out pretty well I think.

I mounted the pieces onto the hull with epoxy and screwed it back together,Then I test fit the hood seal,I must have done good because the stock hood seal goes on perfectly. The hull lip is kind weak and flimsy at this point but when I get some more resin I am wrapping it with carbon fiber, that should do the trick!

I will either do that or maybe two angled pieces going to the back and attaching there. If you draw a line from the brace on the right side of the pic to just on the right side of the trim cable then another on the other side to match it ,thats what I am thinking. Both of those cables are going to have to be moved, this has to go to a direct steer system and the trim setup must be moved and totally redone as well.
