x2 hood mod and other stuff

SKI TILL I DIE!

YUMMMMMMMY
So since its been so friken cold down here lately i've decided to the basic shaved hood mod and some other stuff to the x2 before I paint.

First question: Ive glassed over the external fill and i have simply cut a hole in the gas tank and put the filler there. What have you guys done to cap off the hole in the tank that was running to the external fill? My only thought on this so far is to use a pvc cap.

Ive also shaved the "hump" off of the hood and I will glass over that, but now I'm trying to figure out what im going to do to the area with the fuel selector and trim. Im thinking of taking all of it off and just glassing it smooth all the way down to the top of the seat.

So now this is where im getting lost. The ski is assembled besides the gas tank and i dont want to start taking everything out of it so how do i remove the steering cable? Now i Have a pump nozzle that flops up and down...What do i do about that?

Thanks for all the great advice you give to people like methat are new at this stuff!!

As far as the fuel selector and trim, you can either 1) "flat top it", you can 2) buy a fiberglass piece for $120 that replaces the plastic piece, or I simply chose to 3) cut down the plastic piece so it is the same height as the hood and keep the fuel and trim selectors....because I'm lazy and don't want to repaint my whole hull

Wow nice work on the flat top. Was it worth the trouble? Now i need to figure out how to get the steering cable out of the thing lol. And what did you do about the nozzle that currently moves up and down freely?

So I think im going to attempt to shape the dash area from where the seat starts and then go up and line it up with the level of the hood.

Ill post some pics of it if it ever works out...

and could someone explain to me the positives and negatives of D cutting the rideplate

Thanks!

Heres pics of the cover that smrbum mentioned. This cover is the only one that I know of that will fit over the nozzle trim unit.

There was someone who relocated to the trim selector to under the hood. They used the same bolt holes but flipped the piece upside down and installed it inside. I'm not sure how they did it but their build is somewhere on these forums.

You could do a trim like the superjet guys do it. They use a cable and a brake lever that goes directly to the pump. It's no longer selectable. Rather you pull the level and get trim until you let go.

Only 2 of many options...
