What about the Rick Roy pole(RRP)?

The RRP pole is nice as well. Not a big fan of the weight but coupled with a pole spring it is pretty sweet.
I heard of issues with the X-metal pole from his first production run but that issue seems to have been dealt with. Not a big fan of the cast aluminum peices on the pole. That stuff is like powder when it breaks, but then again if anything ever does break Pat will take care of you.
A/C poles are great and have always been reliable. They do ding up easily but that is just how they are.
UMI poles are butt a$$ ugly and look like they were hacked up then rewelded. :biggrin: (maybe it is just me who thinks that). Still very strong pole though.
Waterdawg billit pole is a very nice peice as well. It is a little boxy but pretty much indistructable and does not use any cast parts. Can also use a pole spring. Fairly Lightweight as well at 10.5 lbs complete.

the RRP is something like 15-16lbs but it carries the weight on the top and bottom. The middle tubes don't weight hardly anything but the thick base and top section that holds the steering system is beefy. No way I would run that pole w/o a pole spring, too much weight in your hands. I think it is all cast which adds to the weight. Plus the pole pad is fairly large on those poles. So in addition to the $800 price tag you have to buy a bracket, pad, spring ect.... all said and done its in the 1200 range.
The x-metal pole is about 10lbs somewhere in there. A/C poles are in the 10lb range as well.

I also ran a composite pole last year and did not care for it. It was very light but had significant flex in it. Handlepoles are not a place for composite materials IMO. To me it does not matter if XFT, waterdawg, 24/7 ect made it.......if it is a composite handlepole I would stay way from it. To much torsional load and other forces constantly applied to it to be considered reliable. Thats just my .02 and I know guys will not agree with me on this one but I had to throw it out there.

The UMI is sterdy and I don't recall hearing anything concerning a pole breaking.

Supposably they had problems with the older UMI's breaking easily. I think they have that problem fixed now.

AC poles do break! Mine broke for the second time at Daytona. I hate my AC (A** Clown) pole!
