xmetal pole thoughts.

Gotta love those X-Metal Waterboxes! :arms: BRAP!

Front only baby:biggthumpup:  I realy like all of the x-metal stuff.... I run the waterbox (front only exhaust), and scupper.

For a pole I like the stocker though...... mostly because its only a little over 8lbs, the lightest thing out there. Unless you are bailing Huge the stocker should hold up with a limiting strap.:Banane01: I realy dont throw my boat away though..... If you throw your boat away in the surf, you better get the X-metal:woot:

Speaking of breaking, when was the last time someone heard of an x-metal pole breaking?

Once Pat fixed the issue from the first run, I do not recall hearing of one break.

Search PWCToday or here, cant remember where, but there was a big thread about the UMI's breaking, Some of the mates down under were having issues with them breaking................

first productions of both poles (UMI, XMetal) had issues w/ the casting breaking... this was a long time ago and the issues have been corrected on both poles...
Both company's have good warantees, but X metal is 100%... not sure about UMI

I have landed flat, sideways, whatever and mine is still rocking hard...

I have not seen one break since about 2003

Steve (WF) broke Pats pole in St Pete... In all fairness there was no way around it... he did a superman and the ski went too far past vert and the pole and hull were like a wishbone... SNAP the pole gave.
something had to give...

That's what I'm saying... Every time the pole subject comes up, someone brings up that the x-metal poles had/have issues.

They don't, they are solid as hell, and more people are on the water abusing them now, then ever before!

4 years and "I have not heard of one casualty. That is pretty damn good in my books.

also, if something is gonna break what do you want it to be (does not matter the MFG), the hull or the pole (in a wishbone situation) and keep in mind that Pat will fix your pole if it does break, will yamaha fix your hull??

Not sure when Gumps was made, but it broke this year and nothing fancy, just a stap gone bad (did not hit bottom).

My hull has yet to brake w/ A/c pole, reinforce HP mounting area and run something that dont brake.
Dont get me wrong, I like the looks of X-metal stuff and Pat makes alot of great stuff ( I own 2 of his steering systems) and he has my respect as both a rider and Manufacturer. I am simply throughing my opinions out there. I may have tried on of his poles if I were not a pole spring advicate.

were you there when Casey's pole ripped off the nose of his white ski at Lanier several years ago??? (Stock Pole though, just remembered that!!!!!!!!!)

my only complaint with the AC's is that they are crooked..................

the nose was ripped off of my ski by the prior owner with an ac pole.i dont think it matters what pole you have ,if you dont use a limiting rope it can happen

btw my ac pole was crooked too

I thought my AC pole was crooked until I got my Xmetal. The bars are straight in relation to my pivot point but the pole tube sits at about a 10 degree angle. It's only a cosmetic thing but my pole cushion pad is shaped like a piece of pie now.

They are definitely the nicest looking pole made.

How true I would rather break the pole than rip the front of the ski off.

Thats what I like about running a stock pole. I would much rather break the stock pole than screw up my hull. Heck you can pick up stock poles for $50-100.

What do you all think would give first?

An Xmetal/UMI Pole

or

A Non-Reinforced Nose

From the looks of the Xmetal it looks to be VERY strong so I would think the nose would give first.:dunno:
