xscream pump cones

What info do you need? Shorter cones loosen the pump and longer cones tighten it. Which it needs is dependent on the combo.

They work well, and cover a wide range. They claim to have their own reasons for the shape.......I can say they work as good or better than the other cones out there.

What is needed to achieve optimal performance with the popular 9/15 hooker in a solas 144? (Ported 701)
Everyone puts a stubby "freestyle" cone on the end. Why would you "loosen" the pump? So it can rev faster ? @philipclemmons

Two boats with the exact same parts can run differently, so it's tough to nail it down in a generic sense. Looser is like downshifting a gear, and tightening going up a gear. The magic is matching it to your specific combo for your riding style. Some like a tighter setup, some like the instant revs of a looser one. It's very setup and user specific. Most hookers I've tested on the smaller motors load them pretty good, meaning you would need to loosen it up with a bored nozzle.

i was mainly curious of their shape, since they are not shaped like any other cones on the market. I understand the purpose of the pump cone and how it is used for tuning the pump, but some real world info or comparison of these to the normal billet cones would be great. Just saying i have them and use them is not a review at all.

I don't recall you asking for a review ;)................if you had posted an actual question that you wanted answered, I would have answered it to the best of my ability. The only actual question you asked was has anyone used them, and I replied yes. I guess I incorrectly assumed if I told you I used them that you would ask what you needed to know..............
I was just trying to help, but everyone wants to cause drama.

He pretty much said it all. I use one. I don't think they are more special than any other pump cones if that's what you mean. Smaller decreases after load in the pump and "loosens" and bigger increases afterload and "tightens". That's about it.

All i wanted was a review, which is why i posted in the review section. Thank you for your info, seems others don't want to share any info unless your throwing money at them.

Honestly man I'm on tapatalk and don't always see the area it's posted under. I just saw is anyone using them and replied, trying to help. Sorry if I wasn't detailed enough.

The designer/"engineer" is trying to use the tear drop shape to make it as efficient as possible. By adding that long, skinny tail, it stream lines the flow coming out of the stator over the tail cone. Without the "tail" and just an abrupt end, like the typical stubby cone, the water flow does not want to contour to that quick turn in, and thus creates turbulence as it tries to fill a void that it doesn't want to and a low pressure area. And low pressure with water results in air bubbles which is cavitation...
Take a gander at this Nasa page. Pay attention to the sphere and air foil shapes. They essentially have the same leading edge. It's the trailing edge that is different and why the air foil, which resembles the typical tear drop shape, that yields a lower drag coefficient.

But, you can only imagine how messy things are in one of our pumps... So does that "tail" really make a noticeable difference? I'd guess no... Plus that "medium" cone looks kinda fat, not sure how effective its little "tail" is...

I think Alex nailed it, I didnt want to say anything as I haven't ran them but in a perfect system a concave tail reduces fluid shear. But there are so many dead walls all thru out our pumps tapering trailing edges on vanes and removing the gate/runners left by casting process helps but does it make a difference? I can't comment in that part. I have a hard enough time turning in carbs let alone a pump.

It would be nice if the manufacturer explained their Preformance product. Because they choose not to should raise a red flag. On the other hand XS has never sold garbage so it must be good right

not all are going to like xscream products
but you do have to take in consideration on the many many championships in both amateur and pro they have won
that itself is a fact that they have stuff that works really well when used in a certain setup
