Anyone know what this is about and is it a quality downgrade now? @JetManiac heard/know anything on this?

Never seen made in China on oem parts label until now tho. Those are midshaft seals, on the pump seals they say made in Japan.China has been making Yamaha stuff for years all of Yamaha's small ATV's and motorcycles are made in China now, they run down the same assembly line, one brand gets one color plastic and a Yamaha sticker set the other side gets different color plastic and JIanshe sticker sets. All Chinese junk no matter what sticker you put on it. I believe Yamaha owns 50% of Jianshe from my understanding.

Well known issue elsewhere as well. For years dunlop made excellent race slicks for bikes. Problem was, the UK made ones performed better then the US made ones. Supposed to be the same tire though.I remember when I raced dirt bikes in the 1980’s the tire of choice was the Dunlop K139. When it came time to replace you had to make sure that it was with one made in the USA. An otherwise identical version was made in Japan and was known to be inferior in performance. Speculation at the time was that a lower-spec (but probably cheaper to produce) tire was used on new bikes as most buyers wouldn’t know the difference.
If a spate of seal-related issues develop in the future the place of manufacture might be a consideration.
This...........The quality you get from china depends on what you ask for from the supplier
People speak from ignorance
Most of these billet parts are made in China. Or Taiwan. Most vendors have China make their cast parts. Then they finish them over here.
China built some of the greatest engineering accomplishments ever. They surpassed us a couple years ago. Their airplanes are even better than ours now. What makes anyone think they can't get a doosan? Lol. They probably make those too
Only people stuck in 1972 think made in China means garbage. I broke tons of American made crap being a millwright.

Value your input and I’m sure there’s a degree of validity here. But, we’re comparing Japan made vs. China made. Perhaps it’s just a personal bias and I need more time to overcome some of my historical unsavory experiences with some Chinese made products. After all, Japanese products were certainly seen in a very negative light in USA for a long time after WWII.
The other half of that is how often you do inspections/visits. My former boss dealt with large forgings and castings out of mainland China and they were great when you for the first one/ten, great when you checked up on the facility and operation every few months or so, but if you let them keep running unattended they started having quality issues as time went on.This...........
People also speak from experience, I deal with a lot of aftermarket parts , Made in Taiwan or made in Thailand seems to be better than made in China from my experience.People speak from ignorance

They could make a good one if the manufacturer of the part asked for it. They simply didn’t ask for the right quality because they wanted to save 36 centsThe main issue I see with Chinese made stuff is in the metallurgy, lots of parts being made and sold out of material that is basically crap, the most common problem I see is on aftermarket starters where the armature just shears completely off, you can't make good parts from crap materials.
