Wondering if there is one company that makes a better/stronger trim cable than the others. Is the Skat better than the Thrust Inno, or vise versa, or are they the same? Is there someone else that is stronger than those two?
That intake grate is no good. I would really try to get the skat grate if you can. I know some of the ride plates don't swap to all the 750 models, but the intake grates do.
May also consider some hull extensions if she can't keep it from bouncing around. Hull extensions were the only thing...
I understand, and that makes sense. Do you think some silicone spray around the sleeve would help slow it down? Or is it just something you might want to pull your head for a couple times a season and make sure any rust isn't getting a good foothold in that area-- make sure it doesn't get any...
They handle just fine, and at her age and weight, they may actually be better.
The blowsion tubbie IIs are awesome on the SXi Pro, and some hull extensions may help keep the nose down ( they do for me, but I am sure I out weight your 12 year old by quite a bit)
Look for a Skat-trak intake...
Can you go into more detail on that-- I am not sure I am following exactly what you are saying. What does an o-ring head have to do with the "top flange of the sleeve" starting to rust?
The stock i Body Mikuni carbs from the SXi and SXR are about as good of a value as you can find. Easy to tune and run great. I have also had good luck with single 42mm Keihin carbs...
These are the ones I like-- saved me a few times from unwanted ish from the tank making it to the carbs.

Jetmaniac has these also, I believe.
I think he was saying that your comparison is irrelevant-- there is a HUUUUGE difference between a ski that has its exhaust dried out, and one that is running without a water box. A ski with a pipe and less water going through the exuast is definitely noticeably louder, but it isn't "HOLY S...
If you didn't change your jetting and N&S when you put that R&D flame arrestor on, it is never going to run right. Put the stock airbox back on or fix the jetting in the carbs.
I prefer the stock airbox myself-- much better at keeping the water out.
The stock flame arrestors are all that is needed on stock carbs, regardless of your other mods. Tuning is easier and they are infinitely better at keeping water out.
I have talked to more than a few people who have melted pistons running the fixed 6* advance with a BP CDI. I have also been told by many repudable engine builders that they should be left off these skis. Obviously some people have run them with success, but you better know what you are doing...
Depending on the riding you do, I would think about throwing a small pin 750 in that ski. They have much better bottom and mid than the motor you took out of there. Try to find something out of a '94 if you can, or even a '93. The cranks in the '92s are not rebuildable, so stay away from those.
