i wouldnt think so unless the handle pole is sitting down on the hood.
thats the only time i could see the issue coming up.
we finally got our order in from u.s. composites.
its cold as a mofo outside so we didnt get too much done.
buuut we did get the first layer on the nose and hood done...
thanks, i tried my best to get a real nice smooth transition along the whole ski. its a little hard to tell with the foam on there but once its glassed i think itll look nice :bigok:
no tubbies yet! too much piddling around. :slap:
BUT i did shape the hood even more, and now its got even more smooth lines.
after a foam and fiberglass dust bath it doesnt look half bad!
its starting to look more and more like a good looking ski every day.
im hoping to get started on...
wave raiders are great in the surf. there are alot of mixed opinions on them though.
i started out on one and still occasionally hop on it and go into the surf. we've got the 701 and 1100 models and theyre a blast. and as for the blaster id have to agree with the unstable part. if your not...
and as for soaking up water, i know that the "great stuff" foam soaks it up. but as far as i know the florists foam doesnt absorb the water. i set a piece of it under some water for a few minutes and it was bone dry almost right after removing it from the water.
well we made two pairs of tubbies on my 550 and my dads fx1 with the florists foam and they have had holes put in them and usually drain any water out of them after theyre pulled out of the water. im planning on removing what i can from the nose. but most likely some will have to stay in there...
well, not very much more progress.
but we got the nose shaped down even more and its starting to look like i want it to for the most part.
more layering of foam for tomorrow most likely.
and the gunwales are starting to get shaped as well
im going to extend the hood some so that...
well the nose is really starting to take a definite shape. i played with getting the lines on the nose to match up.
and also spent alot of time getting both sides to look symmetrical.
hopefully over the next few weeks ill start laying glass and getting this thing ready to rip! :barrel...
well as of right now, im planning on welding up my own aluminum pole similar to a rick roy type of pole.
but if that doesnt work out i probably wont have enough for an x-metal pole so im just using my dads old Fx1 pole for now.
well, not too much more progress.
i got the gas cap sunk in and then tomorrow ill be laying the glass hopefully.
its no where close to finished, but its certainly progressing :veryhappy:
other plans now are to get a Rn pole and bracket.
Round out and smooth and lower the lines on...
well right now ive just been going off of some drawings ive done and i also got some ideas from looking at other peoples builds. and the hood is getting chopped down a bit so i can round out the top some more.
right now this is just the start of it all. i plan on cutting, chopping, and...
got alot more of the foam sanded today.
the nose is starting to take shape and the hood is starting to look like a hood again.
check it out and let me know what you think.
any advice or thoughts are welcome
yeah i had seen that build. and ive already come to the conclusion ive got a WAYYYY large amount of work ahead. but it should be worth it in the end. ill be happy with whatever it turns out like, cause itll be a one of a kind! :Banane09:
