Yes it was. I tried to get it flat to pore a layer on then sanded the crap out of it and buffed with rubbing compound.

cause this is what I've been working on for a bit now. I know it's not the same as the infusion but I have the feel for the carbon fiber and my resin. Btw this is 11oz 6k 2x2 twill carbon.

I'm just trying to put together a rough idea of how much it would take. I think it would be pretty cool to have people ask where you got your hull an be able to tell them you built it. But I would be upset to put that much time and money only to have it bust in half after the first serious...
This is helpful. Dalton how much do you have in your bottom deck? A rough estimate with the glass, resin, bagging stuff. And would you say your hull could handle backflips and rolls?

Yes I would. Here is my reasoning for the question. I'm building a 750 sxi pro. But I'm making a freestyle hull. Well I was searching to see if anyone has ever backflip these hulls. And everywhere I look says. Though the pros and the sxi and sx handle good they are just to heavy to back flip...
So I am curious and just wanted to know. If anyone knows or if someone has built one. But how many layers of what weight carbon fiber do they use in the lower deck of a average aftermarket hull. Let's say a carbon EME Q8. I'm just wondering how much it takes to make the bottom deck strong...
It's not done yet but. 98 sxi pro. 701 61x power plat. Rn superjet handle pole conversion cut down -2. 615 new footholds, the hole bottom, engine bay, and tray was covered in 11oz 2x2 twill 6k carbon fiber. Trim setup. Stock pump with solas 8/15 big hub prop.

Okay so I'm not done sanding the handle pole but check out the shine I'm getting.
And just cause I'm impatient I had to flip the ski over. Even though I'm not done with the bottom. Cause I wanted to see the progress I'm making. What do you think so far?
And don't mind the garage I need to clean...
Sorry about the crappy pics but I got home did some trimming and this is what I've got. I'm going to add another layer of resin so I can sand it and make it smooth. But yea not bad.

Here you go first layer of carbon fiber not perfect but good. Not bad for my first time with this huge amount of carbon fiber. Now to wait till it dries completely then trim, one more layer of resin then sand an done with the bottom.

Oh also took my superjet pole apart. The person I bought it from when he cut it down two inches. He mounted it wrong. He used bondo to glue it together and it was a inch and a half to the right so it was cocked and never would of rode straight. So I layers two layers of carbon fiber in the...
But now she is all tore down and I finish getting the graphics off her. Going to take her to a spray booth and clean the poop out of it get it ready for some filler and start laying the carbon fiber.
And wile I work on that I'm also making some home made bourbon BBQ flavored jerky.

Speaking of updates. Got to go out last weekend but also finally got my trailer back. Had my brother with his made welding skills. Convert my trailer to a three place trailer.
Now I can take the girlfriends seadoo, my 550sx, and when it's finished my pro. The first pic was me test fitting the...
So didn't get a chance to work on the ski. The weather was finally perfect to get the other skis out. Had fun on lake lemon.

Finally got her in the sun. Got some more work done. Got my bed plates finished and set the motor in to test fit the coupler. Measured the gaps it's dead balls on perfect. I won't have to use and shims.
