So I bought a 300sx. And I have a 750sx hull I plan to steal the pump tunnel out of. My question is, how many layers of what kind of fiber glass will be enough? And how much would just be over kill?
Keep in mind I will be hitting the surf and I want to eventually flip it.

So are you planning on doing a couple of production pieces? And how much are you looking to get out of them if you are?

I have a 750 sxi with a 701 61x motor. My question is did that big hub 9/17 make much of a difference? I have a tone of people telling big hubs are a waste of time and the others telling me it made they're ski damn there rip out of they're hands.

I guess that and prop size. I've had a bunch of people tell me go with a big hub then had a bunch say big hubs are a waste if time.

I mean I'm not trying to be an ass or anything. I've been in a tool room for 9 years now. When I went to school they beat that terminology into are heads. I just don't get how everyone started using that term for that kind of job. But any ways back to the original question about the pump. I am...
You line hone the bottom end of your motor for balance. And drill your crank to remove material on the counter weights for balance.

Blueprinting is a process in which you add or subtract material to your piece to make it with 3 to 4 thousandths of and inch of the original plans and or blueprints. Porting is to add or subtract material to improve the efficiency of the part. Like when you port heads on a car to improve the air...
I wouldn't call it blueprinting more of so much as a port job. Sorry I just don't get why everyone calls it blueprinting a pump.

For your trim do this. Remove the little ball end on the trim end of the nozzle. Replace it with a little wheel and or bearing. Something that spins and you can wrap a cable around. Then take your trim cable from where it's coming out of the ski wrap around the wheel or bearing and then mount...
Got the 701 powered sxi out today for its first time in the water. And I've got to say the way everyone was talking I wasn't expecting much out of this motor in this hull but this thing was ripping me around like I was a rag doll. And I've only got a stock 15 pitch 650sx prop in it cut back to...
I built a 750 sxi with a 701 61x motor. Stock pump. Everyone I talk to has told me to do the 9/17 big hub or a 10/18 big hub. I havnt had the ski on the water yet I just finally got my ride plate. But I think for the area I ride which is a lot of rivers I'm leaning towards the 9/17 big hub. As...
Okay so the sxi pro hull has slowed down. I've had a second thoughts about it and decided to put a 1100 motor in it. Even with everything I cut off and even with no foam in it. The ski is just to heavy for what I'm after. So I'm just going to turn it into a fast ski.
But for all of you who are...
Update. I decided to not carbon all the engine bay like I wanted. Figured that was just over kill. But I did do the walls mainly for the bond lines.
Sorry about the pictures. But got her in primer now. I'm waiting for a good day to shot the paint. I also have to finish the hood. I'm going with...
I'm running a ssxi trim nozzle so I can keep the 80mm exit nozzle. And I have a stock ride plate but I'm going to wait to see how it rides before I attempt to do a D cut. My superjet pole is a -2.
