It's the only way I would own a js550 at this point. The stock 650 feels like a modded 550.
The main thing is that a stock 650 will last forever. A modded 550 only runs about half the time in my experience.

These 1100's are supposed to be the 1 good engine they had from what I've read. I'm definitely interested to see how it works out. If it sucks or gives me too many issues all stick my 701 by in and sell the 1100.
I really like the idea of the rear access panel and have been tossing around that idea for my current SJ build. Making it water tight enough and strong enough just seems like a pain for a SJ tray.
Decided to pull the TS coupler off to see what size the crank threads were. Turns out a yamaha 701 midshaft coupler shares the same threads!!

Next i got started on the rocker cuts. Made 5 cuts 2 inches apart. With 4 popsicle sticks shoved in each cut it pulled the nose up 3 inches and got the nose level with the bond line which was my goal.
More chiseling off poorly done polyester resin repairs.
