Super Jet New Build ....95 Square nose / 96 Raider

I put in some work today. I forgot how tight everything gets once you start putting stuff in. If all goes well, i should have some time to wrap a couple of things up and try to give it a start. Here it is as of this evening

Super Jet New Build ....95 Square nose / 96 Raider

I found those two facts out pretty late in the game. At some point, I will change it out but I wanted it on the water sooner rather than later. The problem was that swapping out the ignition opened up a bunch of other issues. 1. I would need to bead blast and powder coat a new electrics...

Super Jet New Build ....95 Square nose / 96 Raider

Thanks, I bead blasted it and then powder coated it. I used a Harbor Freight powder Coat setup and powder from Prismatic Powders. They are cool because they sell small quantities and will send you swatches so that you can see what you are getting.

Super Jet New Build ....95 Square nose / 96 Raider

For now, it has the 760 ignition in it. Everything in the engine is stock less some ProX pistons. I know that it isn't optimal but, it was lingering because of all of the BS to go to the other ignition. I would rather get it in the water this summer rather than procrastinate another year.

Super Jet New Build ....95 Square nose / 96 Raider

Well, I still suck at updating this thread but I have been moving forward. As of now, I am getting really close. Over the last few months, I have put most of it back together. The highlights are. 1. Installed a new pump shoe, Rebuilt and installed the driveline and pump with some mild...

Super Jet New Build ....95 Square nose / 96 Raider

I didn't get a ton moved ahead this week. Mostly, I went through my stuff and found parts / made lists of things I need. Here are the pics of the engine. It still needs the head to be milled and the carbs to be gone through. The bottom end was inspected and new seals installed. Here is the...

Super Jet New Build ....95 Square nose / 96 Raider

Well...I am bringing this thread back from the dead. Life happened and the project was mostly shelved. It did move ahead but slowly...really slowly. Essentially, I did what I could a little at a time. Finally, I have had some time and money to move it way forward. This is the result of a...

Super Jet New Build ....95 Square nose / 96 Raider

I have just been doing a ton of work on the hull as it was so bad. I added a second cooling line, added some reinforcements and general hull repairs and gave it a quick gelcoat to seal it all back up.

This thing is really corroded but I will have one of the guys at work weld nuts to the set screws. I would rather do that than drill them out larger and use the repair kit.

Super Jet Is there a "how to" that outlines rebuilding oem coils? Specifically the wire?

I knew the thread was old but when I searched for info on this, it is what came up. My buddy ruined this coil by breaking the pin off so, I cut it apart to see exactly how deep it needed to be. My post was just to help someone out if they were going to do this themselves since I was left...

Super Jet Is there a "how to" that outlines rebuilding oem coils? Specifically the wire?

This is a superjet coil but the same coil is used on many Kawi's. You would need to bore down 39-40 mm to clear out the old wire. I used a drill bit with a slot slit in the end and hand drilled A death wheel (abrasive wheel)can cut the slit in the drill bit. The pin (not shown) is about 10mm...

    SN SJ ENGINE REBUILD!!!!!

Put a little 2 stroke oil or assembly lube on the seal when you install. Use Threebond 1211 to seal cases and torque to spec in sequence. Building a wooden frame from some 2x4's makes a good base to set the cases on.

Other Painting tips what should I use?

I would go to your local auto paint supplier and explain your project to him and he can set you up. With all of the ever changing environmental laws, paint types can vary by location. I am in CA and our paints are limited. I will say that I used a Sherwin Williams base coat system on a recent...

Super Jet New Build ....95 Square nose / 96 Raider

It was out of one of these. The disclaimer is that this is just a mock up for the office display. There aren't any more running supercharged 650 motors that I know of but, there is a running supercharged 4 cylinder 2 stroke. I think that the non supercharged version was in a Nichols Trident...

Super Jet New Build ....95 Square nose / 96 Raider

Thanks for the info guys. It is a 95 but the plan is to put the 760 motor in this ski. It is currently being gone through. I am waiting on some more swatches form Prismatic powders Does anyone know what they were coating the pipe portion of the B pipe with? Was it high temp powder coating...

Super Jet New Build ....95 Square nose / 96 Raider

I am a total mess. I just bought another square nose for $150. I just couldn't say no. So far, the Raider has been all good. The motor and electrics are in excellent shape and it looks to be in excellent shape less needing a top end. I will break it all the way down and powder coat...

Super Jet New Build ....95 Square nose / 96 Raider

A little about me....I worked in a small shop in So Cal in the early 90's. That being said, I haven't had anything to do with ski's since then. I have always wanted to get a Superjet and get back into it but time, space and other hobbies always got in the way. One of the guys at work got an...
