The stock CDI actually has a wider timing curve, and is MUCH better than the MSD. Just advance your timing at the plate 2-3 degrees or so, and you are good to go. If you need a higher rev limit, like said above you can get your OE modified. The OE is much more reliable.

Check your voltage on the battery while cranking. Weak Spark goes away under load. Load = compression.

I am thinking it is a fuel problem. Try adding a 2nd small clear check valve on the kidney shaped valve body. (Stack them).

Typically happens from pump/drive NOT properly aligned. Be sure to replace both the drive shaft, and mid shaft. Get the tool, and do a proper pump to mid shaft alignment.

If nothing has changed to change your fuel requirements, it sounds like it is time for a tune up, fuel filter, rebuild carbs, etc.

Sorry I do not remember what the Aerial 8 used. I am pretty sure it is a EME special grate. You could try reaching out to Eric on face book. I don't have any other source for them.

Ride plates are an opinion. I also prefer the Jet Dynamics extra long "DD" plate. I find they transition from side to side more smoothly than other plates when turning/carving. I have new in stock if you want; https://watcon.com/products/jet-dynamics-super-jet

I remove the whole pump assy. Once on the bench a few taps with a plastic hammer, and the exit nozzle comes right off.

I use a large slide hammer, pumps come right off.
