My First Stand-up - The story of a 38year old man who makes poor financial decisions.

They're not coming off now... I decided to skin them with carbon fiber for strength... I also decided not to fill over the hardware holes and I plan to run bolts with finish washers because I really like the way it looks..

    Any contact with Rhaas?

contd. (eyeroll) 5/3 - Received an email from Robin saying he finished making the coupler I ordered and the rest of my parts "should go out today" and that he would be including "some extras in the box to make up for the delays". Tracking number was created and attached to paypal transaction...

    WDK Pole Bracket

Sounds about right based on what I've been reading lately... This sport sure seems to have a vendor problem! I just saw the FX-1 pole bracket offered on the WDK site and it looks like what I need but says out of stock.. I have the horizontal style pins on a REV hood so all I really need is...

    Paint how to thread

SprayMAX 2k clear is some amazing stuff even at $20/can. I've never used it in a marine application, but I have painted some wheels and other car parts and it looks as good as true automotive clear if prepped/applied/and buffed properly.... I think i might try their primer on my hull.

My First Stand-up - The story of a 38year old man who makes poor financial decisions.

Checked on everything this morning and it's looking good. More epoxy arrives Thursday, so hopefully I can skin these by the weekend and move onto paint prep and painting.

My First Stand-up - The story of a 38year old man who makes poor financial decisions.

Got them both epoxied on... Gonna leave them until tomorrow and then start blending them to the hull and fill any imperfections in the pie-cuts... I need to order more epoxy now, so I wont get to wrap them with fiberglass until that arrives, but I'll hopefully at least have them all...

My First Stand-up - The story of a 38year old man who makes poor financial decisions.

Thankfully I discovered "total fair" and will no longer be using thickened epoxy as really hard to sand body filler.. I feel like one layer of cloth will be fine..it's mainly just a skin layer to reinforce the piecuts.

Lol then I may have un-ruined or maybe double-ruined a Kawi hull haha. (my Rhaas JS-701 swap kit is actually out for delivery today finally!!!!)

My First Stand-up - The story of a 38year old man who makes poor financial decisions.

well it appears that was all a waste of time unfortunately... after removing the "reshaped" sponson and all the tape residue and sanding the hull to prep for epoxy one of my pie-cuts re-filled with epoxy cracked when i bolted it back on for final mock-up... crap! I was really hoping that I had...

My First Stand-up - The story of a 38year old man who makes poor financial decisions.

Well.... this last weekend didn't go how I had hoped... My plan was to expoxy the sponsons to the hull and have them all faired in and ready for primer. Unfortunately, after leaving them bolted to the hull "under load" for a few days it appeared that the amount of tension they were under in...

Site was down for a few hours

Sometimes there are hacks that effect multiple hosts...Bit-defender on my laptop alerted to a SSL redirect, my Android just said the site was down... might not have been exclusive to the-X. It actually forced me to resort to reading work emails while I had my morning coffee though lol

    Anatomy of a Turf Job

Your tool probably just needs a set of carbon brushes - might be able to get another 5 years out of it for just a couple bucks! Does it turn on when you whack it against the workbench? aka will it "bump start" lol The wire inside the power cords on these also tend to break internally at the...

    B-pipe manifolds for sale

Thanks for the update and clarification Wax! I think we all greatly appreciate what you are taking on and the perceived impatience is merely how the excitement is being expressed as the weather gets better... I would much rather wait for a proper product than receive a premature iteration that...

Well thank you for the compliments, but this is actually not MY design - I am just fixing some of the aged/damaged glass-work. I believe this ski was originally modified circa 2010-2012! The nose of this ski incorporates a rocker-kit from a (former?) forum member CarterB. He offers a lot of hull...

Let's......GOOOOOO! Really happy with how these are turning out. In these pics the front of the tubbies have been trimmed and sanded flush with the front of the hull. I just colored the front edge black with a sharpie so it shows the shape better in the pix. Next I'm going to attach them...
