Hope we don't see pics of your Pistons on here in near future.
Why not add that extra 15-20% safety margin before you need it??
Because it's little expensive to add after u need it!
Crank flex is a problem with all engines.
Basic theory, more power more flex or twist.
Some of the aftermarket cranks have less twist then others.
So far the cranks I have tested the PHP with 4340 center section has least twist of all the cranks I have tested.
Those be, DASA, ADR, crank...
All Dasa motors need heavy chamfer on exhaust ports. They run a very large exh port.
but no diff if it snagged the valve or the port. Same result. You will still have the cold grey looking piston with similar damage to deep piston without the visual signs oh heat.
The only difference is one...
Wow, blaming a pickup on plugs, that's about as good as blaming blisters on your heels from gloves that where to tight.
Vibration is number one killer of pickups. Most are actually the wires failed internally do to vibration break down.
This motor didn't die of detonation, look at picture, all edges are sharp, color cold grey and chunks have no signs of heat .
This motor snagged a ring on power valve. Can see it didn't have enough power valve to piston clearance in the pic where engine was stil healthy.
Soon as u felt it was...
Simple, anything with 185 deg ex port with over 165psi.
Or 11to1 comp ratio up to 16to1 valves closed.
After 16to1 you should be in 10 heat range.
If you have fouling problems with 9heat range that tells you your setup needs tuning.
You should be able to run a 9 heat range plug most the...
And you almost never will on the rear Cyl.
It will 99% of time only kill front Cyl.
The rear Cyl will only die after the front or if the rear is much leaner.
Why??
Crank flex, rear Cyl runs about 4deg retarded in timing from front due to crank twisting under a load.
None of the common...
I have 6 Dasa pistons out of 4 different Dasa motors all have exactly the same damage.
It's 100% caused by detonation.
It brakes the ring land on the exhaust side then ring snags port and rips it up like you see.
Stop looking at 205 psi.
That's bull $hyz number that means very little in...
My first guess would be you had mismatch set of stock 44's. Not all the OEM 44's are the same transition port design.
The vacum signal is much weaker on 46's as 44's and require considerable bigger jets in 46vs the 44's.
If you buy aftermarket silver painted 44 and match it up to one of the...
There some things here that I don't believe to well thought out.
1- hurricane hull, flat water boat. Not surf hull or boat chaser.
2- big power in surf opens up whole new dimension, look pictures of Brandon Lawlor at surf slam on the inside chop. He could match height of them on the outside...
My two cents
I'm assuming your 61x or 62t Cyl that's 83 or 83.5 bore.
Stock Cyl has limited transfer port tunnels and big bore sleeves really cut down there volume.
Since your newbie and moto is your primary, use the stock 46mm carbs and you save yourself a lot of tuning headaches.
Even on my...
But his post said he running 44's.
So the jet spec for 46's will be to big of jets.
Been long time since I can stock 44's.
But I would think you be in
110-115 low
1005-110 high
Range
2.0 needle
95 gram
