I also made some prototype roller hooks for halving the length of straps instead of knotting them. I can make some up if anyone is interested. They are made from stainless steel 1/8" rod and 1/4" tubing. Need to do some more testing but they seem to work well...
The anodized tanks are finally done, just picked them up tonight and started assembling them. The black, clear, and red turned out pretty good but the blue turned out kind of weird. Has a bit of a green tint to it...
Yes, the anodizer finally was able to get a test tank done yesterday and it looks good, so they are going to anodize the rest of the tanks today and send them back to me on the next truck. All anodized tanks should be back here either today or Monday.
I also got my new welder in yesterday so...
All of the tanks that have been ordered are welded up and at either the powdercoater or anodizer. The anodizing has taken longer than expected, I actually had to make some holding fixtures for the tanks so they could be held in the acid baths without leaving marks on the outside. Everything...
As of right now the 5 gallon model does not fit with the TNT pipe. It will fit in a Footrocket with any other pipe including the RRP, but not the TNT because of the very wide waterbox. The 3 gallon model will fit.
Sorry about the delay guys, I've got a big batch of tanks at the anodizer and powdercoater. They should be done anytime! I have a few 5 gallon and 3 gallon tanks left if anyone wants one. Will fit B-pipe, RRP, and PFP. I have a 3 gallon going for a test fit with a TNT, it looks like it might be...
Okay, I'm thinking this will be the final design on the extinguisher bracket. This will allow for T-bolt clamps to be used and for hose clamps to be easily installed without having to thread them through a hole.
The easiest way to check is let the ski run enough to prime the tank, then spray some soapy water around the cap. If it is leaking at all, you should definitely see some bubbles.
Do you have one of the early tanks with the red plastic cam-lock caps? They can develop slow leaks over time. The fuel additives in ethanol mixed fuels do not play well with anything other than Viton or nylon from what I have found. They work fine with race gas or zero ethanol fuels, but I no...
Those were just for testing purposes. I probably won't include the clamps with the tank unless requested as there are different sizes of extinguishers and preferences out there.
There are cam-lock clamps that would work well for quick access, but are very expensive...
I mocked up several extinguisher mounts last night and it seems that it will work better than expected. I think I'm going to go with the slightly larger one welded on both sides as the extinguisher is fairly heavy. Two hose clamps held it very securely without even needing to crank them down...
I've got several iterations of the mounting flange mocked up, I'm going to weld them to a piece of aluminum tonight and test it with an extinguisher mounted.
Okay here is what I came up with for a fire extinguisher bracket. It would be welded along the top tabs and sides, with the center turfed and the extinguisher held on with thumb tab hose clamps. I'm going to make a prototype tomorrow and weld it to a sheet of aluminum for testing. I think I...
