FX1 Build; Wide Tray, Shortened Pole, Kawasaki 140mm Pump Swap

Got my tray cut out and it's all defoamed. The foam was absolutely soaked. It seemed like the water made its way in from the 2 holes that the factory used to inject the foam, and from the plastic steering cable tube where whatever sealant they used came loose. I'm thrilled with how it came...

    turbo charged fuel injected 701!

Was it the Alsport Tri-Sport? Those were street legal too if I remember correctly. And of course there was the crazy dual track ATV/snowmobile Alsport Tracker.

    NW FX1 Build w/TOM 21 144 pump tunnel swap.

I've got a LPW ported 718cc, Boyesen Rad Valves, dual 38's, ADA head with 35cc domes, dual cooling, B-pipe with Limited chamber, Jet Maniac waterbox, MSD enhancer and the 9/15 is perfect. I have a 10/16 on my Blaster with a 718 and it does have a little more top end, but the 9/15 is perfect for...

    NW FX1 Build w/TOM 21 144 pump tunnel swap.

I say go with the Hooker 9/15 as well. That's what I have on my fixed steer RN Superjet and it rips hard down low all the way to the top end. I'd highly recommend going that route like brapperdoodle said.

FX1 Build; Wide Tray, Shortened Pole, Kawasaki 140mm Pump Swap

Thanks. I think thinning the blades is a good idea because the stock SXR800 prop is a lot heavier compared to any of the Hooker props on my Superjet and Blaster.

FX1 Build; Wide Tray, Shortened Pole, Kawasaki 140mm Pump Swap

Thank you for the ideas! I appreciate everyone's feedback. I also have a SXR800 prop that I'll be using on mine because from everything I've read, it's the best prop for excellent down low, and all around performance. I planned on cutting it back 4 or 5mm and I also was going to have the...

FX1 Build; Wide Tray, Shortened Pole, Kawasaki 140mm Pump Swap

Thanks for the feedback. That's what I'm looking for.......I want to keep it stock looking while still making the tray wider. If I understand you correctly, I would just taper the back in a little bit, so (referring to my picture) instead of the front and rear most sections of the tray both...

    Factory Pipe 61X Manifold Only

Sorry about the first picture, there are some very small pieces of styrofoam in the bolt holes from when I had it stored in the box, as well as some remnants of red Loctite.

    Factory Pipe 61X Manifold Only

I've got one. It's a genuine Factory Pipe. All the threads are good, but the 3 bolts that hold the manifold to the head pipe are one size up from the the original ones. Comes with all the stainless mounting bolts. I'll snap a picture and upload it here in a second.

FX1 Build; Wide Tray, Shortened Pole, Kawasaki 140mm Pump Swap

Last Summer, I bought a beautiful FX1 from the second owner, who owned it for 25 years. He took such great care of it and I promised him that I'd do the same. It was pretty much stock, except for turf, a Skat Trak prop and Jet Dynamics ride plate and intake grate. I love the lightweight feel...

Back From the Dead - Yamaha FX-2

Excellent points! Thank you for the reply. I ride exclusively in fresh water, so I think I'd be fine. I could always paint the aluminum before I reglass my FX1 tray and put new foam in there. I was also wondering about the RN Superjet exhaust tube. It appears to be aluminum, but I wasn't sure.

Back From the Dead - Yamaha FX-2

Is there any big difference if you're using an aluminum tube or a 316 stainless tube (besides price) for the rear exhaust tube? I ended up getting the correct 2-3/8" diameter aluminum exhaust tube (that'll fit the 2-3/8" RN Superjet exhaust hose) for my FX1 that I'm upgrading the exhaust system...

    Difference in SJ midshaft housings?

Thanks for the reply. You're probably right about the grease fitting. Or maybe they simply machined in another snap ring groove(s) on the 1995 and newer housings to fit a wider variety of models. It was driving me crazy trying to find the differences between the two, because they looked...

    Difference in SJ midshaft housings?

I know the 1990-1993 SJ midshaft housings are different, but does anyone know what the difference in midshaft housings might be between the 1994 Superjet/FX1 midshaft bearing housing unit and the 1995 and up Superjet (and 1995 only FX1) midshaft bearing housing unit? The Yamaha part number for...

You should just stay down there for the month until Daytona. You're not missing much up here in Buffalo besides more snow that'll be coming in a few days.
