How many layers of carbon did you use on the top half, and how many for bottom? I'm doing a "one off" hull copy out of carbon and am curious to how many layers it will take. What carbon are you using 5.9oz or? I can get 5.9oz 2x2 twill carbon locally for $35/yd or cheaper if I get a full...

Until this year I don't believe I have had this ever happen, and am positive I never had it happen before the last two. Which is the only reason i'm skeptical of the over torqueing scenerio. Pretty sure over the years I've over torqued just about everything at some point.

Just an update I got a call back from Jason, and was informed that i was over torqueing the plugs. I'm very skeptical of this, but will give them the benefit of the doubt and see what happens next year. Guess if all else fails there's always "denso".

Did you brush the resin or infuse it in while pulling the vacuum? I'm very slowly getting around to doing a similar build and can't wait to see more. Nice work!

I will check the squish this weekend just for $hts-n-giggles, but again this is the same head I've been running for years without it happening. I'm not saying there isn't a possible problem with my motor or tuning, but just doesn't make sense to me that that's the case.

If I remember correctly we took off 3mm 3 or 4 years ago. Once again I don't feel it's tuning. I've always ran my ski fat and the plug is far from showing it's been lean even considering the loose ceramic leaks compression and would lean it out more. Same electronics, same carb, ski runs...

93 octane 40/1 oil msd enhancer. Let me reiterate that this has happened throughout this entire season on same motor w/no new mods, and no signs whatsoever on piston or electrode area of preignition.

I'm impressed that NGK chimed in on this! Spoke with Jason already, and will be mailing a failed plug. I'll let you all know what happens.

I'm running a milled stock head.

I haven't measured the squish, but last year I was running 200psi/cyl with stock head gasket, and this year I went with a much thicker copper gasket and dropped compression. Last year I had zero plug failures (only changed out plugs twice last year).

I'm going to shoot a letter over to NGK and see if they can give me an explanation. I've searched all over the "world wide web" and haven't found squat.

This summer I had five or six NGK plugs fail from the insulator coming loose from the base. 750cc sx motor running 180psi on each cyl. I've not done much jetting changes or much of any mod changes and this is the first time i've ever had this happen period. Just curious if anyone else has...
