X2 just go with the builder that can better service your needs. For some it's location. Being in the same time zone helps when you need to talk to someone. Prices are very similar.

I think you were misled about the "oem" driveshaft. It was likely much longer when it was an oem shaft in a couch. Then someone cut it, and put new splines on it.
When you used the arbor press, did you push on the middle part of the bearing? That could ruin it.

:banghead: Why not just shim the plate to angle it down, instead? Way easier, and you'll likely find out that you still need to extend the plate for better handling.
A stainless steel ride plate??? Nah, it's more likely to be aluminum. Weld an extension on the plate, following the angles and bends of the original. You can shim the plate to change the angle if needed.
