Must've been pure luck that putting a one way valve on fixed their and my issue as well.

Everytime I've had a bad one way valve or no valve I've had random fuel delivery issues. Not sure why. I talked to Alex on his krash he has a main jet instead of a one way and has no issues

Before putting too much effort in the piston port engine, consider doing a 650 or 750 swap. 650 will be simplest and 10x more reliable. Adapter plates can be found pretty inexpensive. Will just need a 650 exhaust, stock pipe will work fine and can be modified relatively easily for more power...

Piston port 550s are quite finicky especially with the "bn" carb on it. They have a very weak pulse signal especially the 44 carb. Wouldn't be a bad idea to look for an adapter and swap to a sbn 44 carb. Has a much better fuel pump, internal restrictor, and tunable jets. All around better, more...

I riding friend put a Riva stinger insert on his superjet and picked up some top end.

Righting the Ski clockwise drops the water to the exhaust side and puts the carbs on the top during rotation instead of the bottom with water splashing on it. With stock flame arrestor having the opening on the bottom water can go right in when righting the Ski up counter clockwise.

When I've had my superjet upside down and rolled it over counter clockwise, the end result is wet plugs as well and I'm running 2 61x flame arrestors. I'm running a fpp pipe with a tnt chamber no laydown. I'll remember clockwise from now on haha.

Yes you can put a 650 in your 550 hull. You'll need an engine adapter to bolt the 650 engine to the 550 bed plate. I've seen people put the 650 electronics in the 550 ebox. I'd also agree with a full overhaul if you want to learn how to work on your ski and plan to hang on to it for a bit. Do a good compression test and a leakdown to check for air leaks. Crank seals can be suspect if the engine has been sitting for a long time. The compression numbers should be...
