another one bites the dust... (jet ski magazines)

AdamOntario & Rustymuscle; I'm glad that this issue has been raised as I agree that the cost for for a Canadian subscription is (IMO) excessive. I periodically purchase PWI from the newstand (I still have copies dating back to 1998); however, every time I consider commiting to a subscription, I...

    sxr or sj?

Like a few others on this forum, I'm lucky enough to have both skis. I find that I switch back & forth all the time, but the deciding factor seems to be, "what are your riding buddies going to be riding"? I personally find that I have the most fun when you are on similar equipment to whoever you...

    61x 62t differances?

I came across this post after doing a search, so I was hoping for some feedback for my situation. I have/had a 62T case/61X cyl (stock bore) motor with girdled head (36cc domes & 180psi comp.) & B-pipe, until I dropped a rod and blew the engine apart last summer (RN SJ). I have been rebuilding...

    Yamaha Superjet in canada?

Previous post is correct; Yamaha Canada has not imported new SJ's into Canada for @ 10 yrs now. The only way to get one is to import one yourself from the US, or to buy a used one. I have come across a few SN SJ's in western Canada every now and then; RN ones are harder to come by. I just...

    Jetx Rockin the Square!

jetx; next time your coming out to BC, strap that beach cart onto your suitcase and I'll buy it off you. Good luck on the sale. (SJ's are as rare as hen's teeth up in this country).

    Suva

Thanks to Suva for not only a transaction that was smooth as butter, but also the care and attention that was put into packaging the engine case for the trip from one side of the country to the other. Cheers.:beerchug:

    Can it get any worse???

Wedoseadoo; I'm actually in Vancouver Canada. There is my problem:-) Yamaha Canada has not imported Superjets into the country since the late 90's (due to low volume of sales). Therefore, any Superjets that made there way into the country were imported as used/previously owned units from the US...

    Can it get any worse???

I was checking out Riva's website and they sell "PMC" replacement motors. Has anyone heard anything (good or bad) about these units? Like I said on my WTB forum, I do not have anyone close by me that can assemble an engine for me, so this may be an option for a complete motor. Thanks in advance...

    Can it get any worse???

It looks as if the reeds are "carbon tech" and have not suffered damage. There is however needle bearings scattered throughout the case. Perhaps I should post a pic on the "carnage" forum (not for the faint of heart).

    Can it get any worse???

:disappointed:I have just spent the last 48 hours crying in my beer. I was at the lake enjoying the end of summer on my RN SJ (701) when all of a sudden, Kaboom! The bottem end let go and my crank came through the case below the rear cylinder (exhaust side). Today I pulled the motor out and...

    650sx...need help please

Years ago I had a 650SX and had similar problems (the ski started to bog and hard starting. I also started experiencing power loss at wide open throttle). I took it to the shop and they opened the black plug on the front timing cover; it should be dry in there, but I had a slight white oily...

    Routing of steering teleflex cable

My RN SJ has been in pieces since before X-mas so that I could re-paint the entire boat. I am now putting it back together, and I am scratching my head trying to figure out what is the correct way to route the steering teleflex cable (my engine is not in yet). Where the teleflex cable comes...

    SJ Engine Cowl

I checked out what you guys recommended (on Blowsion's site), but I just want to ensure that we are talking about the same thing when we refer to "hood liner". Everything inside the hood is in place and has not been touched. The plastic piece that I'm talking about & is missing, is from the...

    SJ Engine Cowl

I'm about a week away from rolling the boat into the paint shop. I have a question about my stock engine cowl. (Keep in mind that I believe the boat was previously used for racing). The cowl does not have the plastic insert that drops into the top of the cowl anymore (bought the boat this way)...

    What's up with my waterbox?

A friend of mine cut my waterbox open, and sure enough, one of the tubes was completely broken off and the other had stress cracks around it. I'll try to post pics but not sure it will work (first time adding attachments). I can't believe how much of a restriction the baffle plate makes, so I...

    What's up with my waterbox?

Thanks for the advice. I am not ready to re-assemble the ski for a few weeks so I will keep an eye out for a new/used waterbox. In the meantime, I think that I will cut the unit open along the center weld and investigate. (I'll try to post some pics so that everyone can see the inside). I may...
