144 solas mag 12 vein

Keep a close eye on them once installed guys. If run too long after failure you will end up needing a new drive shaft, wear ring, and possibly a prop. Ive fried 3 sets with this piece of junk and moved back to the stock pump. First set was installed by a shop. Second set by me with the freezer/heat method. Third time using the C4 bearing in the front and freezer/heat method. It may take half a season before it goes and you notice it or it could last a few minutes. Easy way to check to is pull the tail cone off and if you see water come out you're F'd. Once i put the stocker back in ive had zero problems and much more fun riding than wrenching. Ive only noticed minimal differences at certain times of riding like initial hook up coming out of slides or landings. I recommend sending the pump to Jetmaniac so he can inspect and install bearings/shaft.

I would say mostly hook, maybe a little thrust at the very bottom. But once your hooked they each pull the same IMO. Its not a night and day difference. Also i have all the other pieces to make a good pump like a hooker prop, bored out nozzle, stubby tail cone, so the difference isnt as much either with having those.

All about efficiency.... Its like replacing a set of worn out dirtbike tires with some fresh ones just before a moto. Motor makes the same power as it did before, but you are just getting the power to the ground. (or water in this case)

not exactly... its more like re-gearing ur dirtbike to be more in its power band. the stator section is more efficient. but due to less volume there is less rate of flow allowing the engine to load it up and get to redline faster.

Dissagree.... Re-gearing would be more like a prop change. New tires, more forward movement with less spinning wheel. More stator veins, more moving forward with less prop spin. :)

FWIW, i've been running this mag pump in my Chan for like two or three seasons, completely problem free. 95% fresh with salt on occasion.
My pump was assembled by Jetmaniac, so maybe thats the difference. I guess i'll send the new one to him for assembly and the adapter ring since I forgot to order one when I got the pump.

I assembled our 144 solas in a php 898 chan and had no issues but I took it to a machine shop and had them do some work to the bearing area and haven't had a issue yet any one that has a usable "junk" solas send it to me ill take it off your hands

It's more than the veins- it's the larger hub as well that compresses the water more.

And I like OCD's use of "actually" and "in my opinion" in the same sentence...!
I "actually" think the large hub is displacing an air pocket and "in my opinion", water is hard to compress.

Correct the water doesn't compress. You decrease the volume it can occupy, so it has to speed up. So potentially more thrust for that reason.

depends on in which sense you mean more thrust. there is more pressure but less volume. which usually equates to more top speed vs more bottom end. But the "Hit" that i hear everyone refering to seems to be less about bottom end and more about how fast can u get ur engine to redline. which the mag pump and big hub setups do very well.

It came in today! Sure is heavy. Anyone have a recommended person to send it to to machine and install bearings and seal. I want it done right the first time

I set mine up right after i got it. Have 2 rides, about 6 hours on it. I like it so far.

I have to get the impros end for it.

Take it to a machinist and tell them a thousand press fit and bring them the bearing

When I measured mine the problem was that it was oval not that it was too small all around. I wasn't to bent out of shape with any of the measurements I was getting, so I didnt bother to try and machine the bore.I pressed my bearings in with a hand arbor press and a chunk of Aluminum just slightly smaller then the bearing to make sure it remained square in the bore, I just pulled the pump after a long season and it still spins very smooth
