Super Jet 1990 Square Build

The square nose is definitely a goofy looking ski.

But they handle well. My fixed steer is way better around the buoys than my RN and they have almost identical setups.

Layed some more cloth today. All 7 1/4 oz stuff. Had to cut some reliefs on the corners to get it to lay nicely in a few spots. Did a piece over the whole hood and two pieces over the foam on the nose of the ski.

The hood will get another layer of 17oz biax on the inside and I am going to run it with no liner, only a pole breather.

Next step is plumbing and foaming up the tray. Going with two pwc doctor sxr stlye drains and running my cooling lines. I need to go buy some more two part foam though.

I like the nose, i should of done something similar oh well Im happy how mine turned out and cant wait to ride it maybe this week end.

I have to do the small end rod bearings on that motor anyhow. I figure since I'm pulling it I might as well plop it in this ski after i go over it. I'll leave the 61x/61x in the fixed steer and put the jetworks 771 in the RN once it shows up. Then I have to figure out which ski to sell lol. No sense in having three of them.

Build lookin good. You can never have enough skis. LOL

I was gonna run front but decided against it. I have a used front exhaust port I'm about to get rid of if you want.

Are you pouring foam on top of the pink insulation in the tray area to build up a smooth surface? Just wondering this is my next step on the build.

yes I did pour foam. It went all the way down to the bottom as well. I just used the pink stuff to keep the cost down on the pour foam. I got some glass layed over the foam and BOB adjustable footholds are on the way.

updated. Just skimmed the glasswork with some thickened epoxy with microballoons. Fairing compound to come, and lots of sanding.

Got some woven roving laid down on the tray. Need to lay a little more glass in a few spots. BOB adjustable footholds on the way. I will get back to work on the tray once they show up.

Also glassed over the exhaust hole and some holes in the dash I won't be using.

True, I'm no pro builder either. I hate doing body work and making it look pretty. I am for an 8/10 and will probably end up with a 6/10 when its done lol.

I'm only going to kill it in the surf anyhow.
