Freestyle 2 New Builds for 2018 Xfr and 2He

I used am OEM pole bolt, and the $25 dollar spacer and my pole is super tight. You don't have to worry about two separate bolt/nuts. I think you're having a solution for a problem that doesn't exist. I've just never seen anyone run pinch bolts on the RRP setups. I'm all for learning something new though.

I think you can get it tighter using 2 individual bolts than you can just tightening one nut. Just depends on how tight you want it I guess

You can tighten the bolt into the bracket a lot since the brackets is threaded. The nut actually didn't do much for making it tighter. My bushings into the bracket were really tight when I installed it and its really snug. The pole will not move unless you're putting pretty good force on it. Gomez thought it was good and he likes it tight.

But I’m a bear. My right arm weighs more than Gomez

My buddy has an older XFS and his pole is super stiff. I used to run a tight pole and I would hope on to his and think mine was loose afterwards. Not sure if he has different bushings or not but his is TIGHT and I couldn't imagine you running much tighter. I am 195 and he is bigger than me so closer reference to you.

I was just thinking the other day about a pinch bolt system like the XScream bracket but you cant run the ears on the inside of the pole base can you without making a notch in the pole? I wouldn't want to notch the pole because then I would have to get things anodized afterwards. I was thinking of this on a special project. I think the XS style bracket would look super clean with an RRP pole put on rather than that big bolt and nut sticking out. Not that you need to for your setup, I was thinking of this for something else, not that I couldn't just slap on the RRP bracket and big a$$ bolt I would just prefer a cleaner look. I don't have an RRP pole and bracket here in front of me to mess with so not too sure on spacing etc. Just ironic you talking about pinch bolts a few days after me thinking of it. Just me speaking out loud. Maybe something will come from this.

Drive up to @Yami-Rider ‘s and brought the ski. Used his band saw to cut the carbon pole tubes down to 18”.

Now it’s like a baby pole. The chinpad looks longer than the tubes.

They used core material in lots of places to stiffen this hull up but the big flat spot on the sides were not one of them. It flexes pretty easy when you push on it. @Yami-Rider is going to add a few layers to the right side atleast. Breaking a beautiful brand new is not something I want to do. As for the left side I’m going to have a ebox mounted there so I would think that would add some support. I can’t roll to the right yet anyway. I just learned how to 360 both ways.

Taylor said he would swap out my blue pole bracket and hooks for black so I took them off. While I was at it I removed the foot holds and the rear sponsons. They were surprising heavy. We weighed it again without all the bs and it come to 75lbs

It’s a Carbon Core layup. It’s the first xfr they have done this way. Trust me building 2 high end skis isn’t for the faint of wallet. Mine is really feeling it right now.

Helium is at the paint shot waiting for them to catch up on some work. They have been busy and I’m not in a big hurry .

Might have been unnecessary but now I feel much better about it.

We ended up adding a 80oz layup on the side. I can’t believe how thin it was. There was just one thin layer of glass over the core material. If you weren’t careful you would sand through it into the core. I wouldn’t be surprised if the outside layer was the same way as the inside with just one layer over the core material. Oh well it’s solid now

I’m not sure what paint they used on the inside but acetone removes it fairly easy. I’ll paint the inside again after everything is done. I have to remove more paint when I epoxy on my ebox mount, remote fuel pump mount and all my inserts in. I’m trying to keep from drilling any holes if I don’t have to minus bypass fittings and such. They might as well have not painted the inside of the ski.

I need to make a remote fuel pump mount just like the ebox mount. Pretty simple and easy to epoxy on

Nice! I just got my XFR today! I also ordered with a front foot hold, but didn’t get one. I’m very tempted to trade you pole brackets! But I have to stare are mine more.

Nice color choice! Don’t worry about the bracket. I sent my pole bracket and hooks back to taylor and he is swapping them out for black. Probably another week till they come in. Not having a front foot hold normally wouldn’t be a big deal but even if I mount a strap by foot is too big to fit in front of the recessed area for the foot hold. My heal hangs off. I’m going to have to add some kind of pad I can stand on that won’t interfere with me kicking into the adjustable holds. When I got it I was pissed and I debated sending the ski back but didn’t want to wait 4 more month on another one.
