how much of a wetsuit will be needed.. never been to the east coast in jan. - or at all for that matter..
thanks
I was skinning it last year and the year before too... don't take advice from SoFLo guys when it come to coldness... They wear wetsuits in June
it was so freaking cold 2 years ago I think I saw ice on the water...
if I remember right it was Me and O maning up and dodging ice bergs while everyone else was huddled up with there hoodies on the beach.oh jesus... be a man, not a wimp
i was at daytona once riding one weekend with slutty.. the ice storm was so bad it forced us into a tiki bar on the beach.. we had no choice but to resort to drinking copious amounts of alcohol just to stay warm and survive. it was horrible. horrible!
I'll be riding the great lakes until there is too much ice to make it worth my while to push out...or when i leave for a month before daytona. Water temps are still in the lower 60s here
aight, so how quickly does the beach drop off and get deep? how far out do you need to ride to not hit bottom on a big nose stab etc?
Seen the vids of previous years... guys going huge on BF's and stabs etc. Just curious about the underwater features.
Daytona has a very gradual slope and the bottom is all sand so it always changes... Rule of thumb is waves break in deeper water the more gradual the slope is. A 10ft wave will break in 13ft of water, like a 5ft = 6.5ft deep... the Bathemetry is always changing when you have a sand bottom...
this is going to be a sweet weekend!!!
