my 91 sj on glass will wobble at higher speeds, but once i got use to it and didnt fight it i dont notice anymore. my bf has an 08 with tubbies and its unstable at low speeds and took some getting use to. ive also ridden a stock '13 and a '12 with a dasa of some sort in it and both of those had the wobble at higher speeds. i think its just a sj thing and if you dont fight it, it'll equal out. at least thats been my experience.

Cut the Bond rail today, ski is 1000% better with the notched rear bond rail. You can see the water coming thru the notch like a water jet. The 08 & Later bottom is a total different design than the pre 08. Now more unstability .

Johnny, did you ever get a chance to take a pic of how you cut them? is it the same as the other guy who posted his on here? I just picture the issue coming from the front of my ski since it doesn't do it at slow speeds when my back end is more in the water....

It's not that some of them do it and some don't. It's how you ride them. Where you're feet are and where your weight is matter for all superjets not just the 08. The new hulls just let you ride even harder.

It's not how you put your feet. I've tried Riding on every square inch of the tray to find a cure with feet side by side and surf stance, standing at the back of the tray, all the way forward, every combination imagine able. My friends claiming its operator error all jump on my ski and realize the ski has issues. Finally I found a guy wih a 2012 and he let me ride his. I rode it exactly how I ride mine, zero issues. Anyone who says its rider error hasn't been on one with this issue. I agree you need to ride them more aggressively when turning but this issue only occurs on straight aways. How can you ride straight more agressively????

one has a SN, the other has a 97, and I have the 13. My other buddies have kawis but we all ride each others skis. They have a little bit of the normal chine walk, but mine is something totally different. Its not really even a wobble. on glass water, while riding straight, all of a sudden the entire right side of the ski will dip like 6". The front of the ski or the back of the ski never turn one way or another. they stay pointed in a straight line, its just that the whole ski wants to lay over....... Dude you should just come out here and ride mine. oh and almost exclusively does it on glass water. No issues in chop at WOT. Weirdest feeling ever. lol

The post 08 hulls will do that on glass water. Ive ridden 4 or 5 of them and owned a 2013 this season. They all do it. It takes some time to learn how to compensate for it. Some people may never notice it depending on riding conditions and body position.

The first time on my older superjet I was literally flung off at high speed from chine walk.

I have like 10 minutes on an 08+ but I liked it a lot....sounds like foot pressure doing it. Wish I could ride one on glass to check it out first hand. Hope you figure that out though man.

Hi,

I have a stock 2013 and on glass water it does chine walk at about half throttle. The ski has only two hours on the engine and no modifications whatsoever.

I found a very interesting link about dealing with chine walking:

http://www.kencook.net/Chinewalk.html

I will try these recommendations next time I use the superjet and let you know. The concept of not letting it drop to one side to avoid chine walking makes sense.

Honestly, I love the way my 2011 rides, I have a 1990 sn too. In my opinion its very stable and turns on a dime lol. This is comparing it to a 750sx also. I can crank it and lean way over and come out of corners just fine.

If you want your 08 and up ski to handle like its on rails. Put blowsion tubbies on top of the factory sponsons, slot the the bracket so the nozzle can be adjusted. Drop the nozzle down about two inches and install a blowsion or R&D ride plate. Makes the ski very stable at high speeds and pushes through the water like and SXR.

SJs leaning to the right is normal... this is due to the weight of the battery. If you put a lightweight Ballistic EVO battery in there it won't do that. As far as all the handling comments on 08+ SJs, I'm perplexed. My Open race ski has an XScream power valve 900 in it. It's an 08 hull and does about 56+ in calm water and gets there in a hurry. I've never had an issue with handling- on the contrary I find it handles much better than my friends' pre 08 RN SJs. I have an R&D 208 grate and the blowsion composite race plate. I also have Blowsion destroyer tubbies up front, but it handled great before that. The only thing the tubbies did was make it more stable in the chop and turn a little flatter. Yamaha's quality control is very good. I can't imagine a hull defect so bad that it would cause such a handling issue. There is either something weird wrong with the handling components of your ski (i.e. ride plate, scoop grate, turn plate, nozzle, cable, hull damage, etc.) or you are doing something strange when you're riding. Where are you located?
Has anyone seen Brian? I've PM'd him several times

I've got a solution to this...ride the thing till it's not a problem! I simply don't believe some have this so called problem and some don't! My 11 rides mint, (I only landed here looking to see if tubbies are worth it) get on it, give it a handful of throttle and away you go, no more problems :)

Just got a barely used 2010 SJ from a buddy. It's immaculate. All 100% stock with maybe 25 hrs on it. I've grown up on a Kaw 650 and 750, had an 800 and ridin' all kinds of stand ups including a 2011 and 2013 SJ. Had a 550 and ridin' early 90s SJ's. Rode an awesome Freak this past weekend. So I'm used to riding and know the feel of a variety of skis and have never had a churning consistent wobble. This 2010 definetely has a weird wobble. Again...it's not the aggressiveness or lack there of because it is in a straight line that this rhythmic wobble takes place as those who have experienced it know to well. Those who haven't experienced it will say I'm crazy, haven't riden enough, be more aggressive, move my stance, etc. but it's 100% there. Has anyone solved the problem 100%? Did cutting the rear rail fix it completely? I hate to whittle away at an almost new ski. Love to hear an update from u guys including the original poster Fairlane. Let me know.

Thanks
Andrew

Im just gonna deal with riding it as is. I talked to a guy who cut the bond line to solve a chine walk on another ski and he said it ruined the way it rode, and didnt fix a thing.
