I believe that 2010 is the last year of the stand up to be sold to the "public", due to the epa marine engine ruling. There will be 2 strokes sold, like the Evinrude e-tech, as it is compliant to the rules, but thats got nothing to do with stand ups. Who ever said that they wont ban 2 strokes should live here in Las Vegas, where the two stroke ban was decided more than 10 years ago. December 31st, 2012, ALL 2 strokes, whether in a PWC or a boat will be banned from the Lake Mead National Recreation Area (LMNRA) which includes Lake Mead, Lake Mojave, the Colorado river between the two lakes and the river below Davis Dam to the first highway bridge. What most people fail to realize about that specific ruling is that in that ruling there is a statement that if ANY manufacturer is selling any 2 strokes on 12/31/12, that ALL PWC will be banned from the LMNRA. Great, huh? The reason they did that is because they do not want the hassle and added cost of inspecting every PWC that comes through the gates for compliance, which is a joke anyway because they would have to do that no matter what.
2 strokes have been banned from the Grand Canyon National park, the Virgin River affluence, Grand Wash bay, Bonelli Bay, the Gypsum ledges and many other places for more than 10 years. We used to be able to ride up the Colorado into the Grand Canyon but got kicked out a long time ago. This is a trend that is gaining momentum and may come to a waterway near you soon too. Dont think it wont happen! We never thought that our lake would be taken, BUT ITS HAPPENING! And it may happen to YOU too. After 12/31/12 we have no place to ride unless we drive all the way to Havasu 2 1/2 hours away...so much for a nice afternoon ride.
If you are not an AWA member then you should be. They are the only ones fighting for your right to ride and if not for them the greenies would be taking your riding places RIGHT NOW. Join now or dont cry when the ban hammer falls!!
This is also another reason why you should be riding responsibly!! Stop acting like a s s holes on the water, obey the rules of the waterway, stay away from swimmers, fishermen and the like. Keep away from boats that dont want you near them jumping their wakes. Stop fueling while on the water BE RESPONSIBLE. One jack a s s on a ski can ruin it for all of us.
DONT THINK IT WONT HAPPEN TO YOU!!!
