We used 2 part 3lb foam i think. Ya that was just our first sand down, added a little more after that and sanded again. Almost have a where we want it.

Quick question, just glassing over the exhaust a bad idea? We need to lay something over it then glass?

That is something I would not do in my honest opinion. I would just use the foam to cover it and then glass. The progress looks good, dude!

Got the holes drill and the plates mounted up. We went ahead and put a small coat of resin/cabosil with some qtips on the inside to make sure no water will be able to seep in where we drilled. Now i just need to decide if i want to remove my latch and put some glass down to help strength up where the brap strap will be. After that start padding and turfing.

I'm glad you mentioned coating the edges of yours for water ingress! I didn't do that on my plates and definitely need to.

(I'm out of "Thanks" so... here you go...)

There should be no need to reinforce the hood where the strap will be. They are strong enough but you can if you want to. You put a piece of turf over the top hood where the strap will be. You can run both latch and strap but I only use just the strap. You have not bought the brap strap yet? You should get one from Jetmaniac. His is much cheaper and awesome! Jetmaniac is an A+ seller and ships fast, I always get all of his products like three days after I ordered it (Business days)! I had the strap on my SXR last year with zero problem and will be putting it on my RN this year.

Is that at Cody's house? I realize the background.

Yup, Codys been helping me this whole time! I would've been LOST trying to install on my own (never done glass before)... Yes i've got a brap strap from Jetmaniac (yes he does get things out FAST), cody was saying he thinks reinforcing where the strap mounts with the hole/washer is a good idea. Figure might as well do that before turfing over everything. Just wish the latch worked better b/c its so convenient.

Got the straps on, think i'm going to just mount the ratchet where the stock one was, dont mind it in the tray a little. Also cut my rideplate flush with the ski, was going to d-cut but figured i'd check this out first.
Put some 8mm padding on the tops of the tray and sanded them down to form how i wanted. Going to turf as soon as i get the time. Have everything ready and want to get after it. Gonna brainstorm a little on the best way to go about it.

Yeah with turf make template. I use brown paper bags from the grocery store. I usually cut it bigger and trim it with an exacto knife when its glued down. Tape the side under the turf lines so you dont get any glue on them and use DAP weldwood contact cement. Paint it on the ski and the turf. Let it dry. Paint it on both again and when its tacky apply the turf to the ski.

dude.. that's what pisses me off... when i got my holds i had them send me the turf kit... it actually fit really nice... and i had every intention to cut everything out in cardboard before i glued the turf in... then got half way done and realized i didn't do it... i guess the day i go to redo it i'll have to be very careful to keep it all together.. haha... but really they want $125 for the turf... like i said, it's all cut a little long on the sides, the edge lines all line up perfect on the top, and they send it with 9mm(?) foam for the bottom.... and they'll cut it in the color you want... and they give you strips to turn the rails(if you want to).... i figured by the time i bought the sheets id have that much into it...

Ya i ordered two sheets of turf before i bought the holds and then saw they had a turf kit for those holds. Ohwell, we didnt install the holds like normal anyways so i guess i'm glad i bought sheets. Supposed to be nice this weekend so i'll prob turf then, set the mats out in the sun to warm up a little... Cant decide if i want to turf my chinpad or just staple the stock one back down, need to cut it to fit the CF steering. Also hesitant to turf my rails like i was planning b/c i kinda want to see how bad the fade is gonna be.

yea.. i did the rails... i know... it's high maintenance but oh well... i've got a cover for mine so not too worried about fade, nothing lasts forever....

If i coated the ski and turf with dap but taped off the rail so i didnt get it on my paint, would the turf with glue on it still immediately stick if it went over where i put it on the ski? Thinking i'm going to make templates with some margin and glue down then trim the excess and just wondered if people had trouble trimming the excess b/c it sticks.
