Hello everyone! Welcome to the 2013 Carolina Beach Freeride at Freeman Park thread! (otherwise known as the north end). For those who do not know what Freeman Park is, it is a 4x4 only beach access that you can camp on and bring your skis to ride surf any time of the year. Basically this is going to be a freeride weekend event starting Thursday and ending Sunday evening. There is an access fee at the entrance to Freeman Park and it is 20 dollars per night or 50 dollars for the entire weekend. You would need to bring all necessary camping gear, food, and beverages for the weekend. There is a grocery store and gas stations near Freeman Park for your convenience.

The camping area will be at the very point of Freeman Park where jet skis and boats are allowed to be pulled up on the beach at any time. We are currently working with the town manager of Carolina Beach to see if there is the possibility of getting the very tip of the Park sectioned off and dedicated to riders of the freeride!

Note: this is a 4x4 vehicle only event, you either need to be able to take your skis out to the Park in the bed of a truck, hitch hauler, or Snow's Cut boat ramp is very nearby and skis can be launched from there and driven around to the camping area on the point in a less than 5 minute drive! I highly suggest hitch haulers or truckbed methods! No trailers are allowed on Freeman Park!

Permanent date for the 2013 spring event is the weekend of the 16th-19th of May!
Permanent date for the fall event is to be announced!

Please contact me by PM, reply, text, or call at 910-214-2114 with any questions you may have! Scott.

P.S. There is no bottled beer allowed on Freeman Park, only cans

This years event will be extended a full day!

Really looking forward to camping out this year on the beach! Tennessee looks like it will be well represented at the ride.If you haven't been to one of these Carolina rides, you need too.Beer is not the most important item, but its nice to be able to have one without fear of being busted for drinking on the beach.

Charlie, who else is coming from Nashville? So far looks like Hornedogg, his lovely bride, myself and we might even bring Ren and Stimpy.

Great ride Scott, looking forward to it.l might even bring a new toy to this one!

OK. So I'm old....dammit. How wild is the late night partying there? Off the chain? Trying to decide whether or not to go. My kids don't go to bed early so they will be smack in the middle of it. I don't mind them exposed to people having a few beers but they don't need to see or hear any wild drunken antics or drunken fights/drama.

Plus I plan to ride my ass off and be wore out and ready to hit the sack by 11 and I don't want to hear people yelling all night. I'm not saying anything against people having a big all night rager because I have enjoyed quite a few, but I'm not interested in it anymore. Especially with my kids there. Is there a semi separate camping area we could set up down the beach a bit or anything like that? Any info would be appreciated. I figure I'm not the only one who hasn't been before and would like to know what's up.

Thanks

There is PLENTY of camping sites.. However camping in front of where you can beach your ski is limited.. But not too limited at all.. Should be plenty of space to spread out. While the partying can get a bit wild... It tends to stay in its own campsite or the immediate area of. I stayed up late Friday night but rode too long Saturday and had to turn in my man card for a pillow by about 8. I slept all night fine.. In fact I didn't wake up until the guy next to me fired up his generators to make coffee at 630. Your camping in one big line down the beach so pick your family spot out and walk over to the party if need be.

I had an absolute blast at the last ride (fall).
Everyone was very nice, the beach is clean and Camping right there next to the skis is great!
I wish I could make the spring ride but work has other plans for me in Va.

If there is any way to actually organize a kid/family camping zone and mark it off somehow with signs or something I am in. But I'm not driving seven hours to just hope that some teenagers don't set up next to me and party and cuss all night in front of my kids. At that point it is too late to deal with it in a rational manner. I figured this is something that could be addressed now and planned for instead of seeing apology threads after it is over. If we want our sport to grow we need to get kids and families involved in some of our events. If the organizers of the ride are not interested in this event being one of those that is fine. I understand if it's a pain you don't want to deal with. But if you have any interest in families coming then throw us a bone so we can know that we can camp in an area that is PG and not R or X. I really want to come and ride and hang out but I have to be a responsible parent too.

Mcdog I am the host of this event, instead of me typing out a long drawn out message on here. I can give you a call and explain details for you. This event is 100% kid and family friendly. Freeman park is very large and families camp out there every weekend. PM me your number if you wish to talk about it.

I think that's a good idea. Considering that this ride isn't like most and for convenience everyone must camp on the beach and the privacy for families drops.. Unless you unload off the beach everyday and go back to a room. Here's a picture from the fall ride from my perspective. It seemed that most parties were on the left side of the picture and the families to the right. In prospective of the map and where you would enter the beach you would flop the picture... You would come across the party sites first then on to the family zone. This families go left and the parties go right... At least keep one half of the freeride zone reserved for a quieter or family friendly zone.
